Text: Joshua 1:1-2 NKJV
[1] After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, saying: [2] “Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel."

In Joshua 1 we find Israel at the time of transition from mourning to movement. Moses had died and his death had created a huge leadership vacuum. For 30 days Israel was mourning Moses. Then God came to Joshua and commissioned him for leadership. It was time to transition from mourning to moving forward with Joshua as the new leader.
Beloved, some of us remain stuck in the graveyard of loss. We mourn lost relationships, lost jobs, lost opportunities, lost glory. But God does not want us to be stuck in the past forever mourning what we have lost. A time comes when God wants us to transition from Moses to Joshua. He wants us to move on with new opportunities and new hope. So God gives us a new assignment. And when the assignment comes, we must be prepared emotionally and spiritually to move on. There is a time for mourning and a time to move.

In verse 3 God assures Joshua, "Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses." Joshua 1:3 NKJV.
God had already won the battle and the land Joshua and Israel were going to posess. Thus he assured Joshua that he would possess the land. But success would not come on a silver plate. Success and possession of the land would only come when Joshua stepped out. Beloved God has promised us success. But we have to step out and take action. And sometimes God gives territories that are already occupied by others. Therefore, we must be able to still step up in faith and courageously possess the territory.

In verse 5, God assures Joshua as he is stepping out that, "No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you." Joshua 1:5 NKJV.
The same God who spoke to Moses face to face, the same God who granted Moses victory was going to be with Joshua. Joshua was facing the intimidation of taking up the new role but God promised him the He was going to be with him. Sometimes when we are given new assignments we feel intimidated and we ask ourselves, 'Am I capable of this new role? Am I old enough? Can I adequately fill the gap left by the previous leader?" But God does not expect you to be exactly like other great leaders. He wants you to be yourself and lead by His guidance using the unique talents and abilities He has given you. So lead on child of God, He is with you.

In Joshua 1:6-7, God encourages Joshua,
"[6] Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. [7] Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go."
At this point Israel had two great barriers before they could possess the land; the Jordan river and the city of Jericoh. These were not easy barriers to overcome yet Joshua was taking up leadership at such a difficult time. It is easy to lead during a time of peace and prosperity but sometimes God elevates us to leadership during moments of challenge. Sometimes elevation means walking into a new battle. But God assures us of His presence and help. However, the presence of God does not mean that He will take away the challenges and the battles. The battles will be there but keep your eyes on God.

In verse 8, God gives Joshua the formula: "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success." Joshua 1:8 NKJV.
God gives His word to Joshua as the formula for guidance and success. Meditate on the book of the law. In short, feed your faith with the Word and suppress your doubts. The blue print for success from God is the Bible.

In verse 9 God repeats, "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 NKJV.
In every assignment God has given you, be strong and courageous. He will be with you. He will back you up. Whatever He has assigned you to do this year, take courage because God has ordered your steps in the new assignment. He will be with you all the way.

Title: A Life with God in it's Fullness

Text: Exodus 14:13-14 NKJV
[13] And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. [14] The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”

There is a difference in knowing about God and walking with God. You can know your Bible verses, attend church, sing, talk about God but still be distant from Him. Therefore, we need to know God and to walk with Him daily and consistently because drifting from God doesn't happen suddenly. It starts slowly; one neglected prayer, one neglected devotion, one neglected Bible study, one neglected attendance of church service.

We need to watch against drifting from God by committing time to being with Him intimately. We always find time to eat, time for social media, for our careers, entertainment etc but somehow God only gets what's left over. The problem is not that God moved, the problem is that we drifted away from Him. Hence we put on a face of being with God but in heart we are far away from Him. We still show up at church but the intimacy with God is no longer there and the fire we once had has diminished.

Information is not relationship. We may know about God and yet not have a relationship with Him. So let's strive to walk with God daily not just when it is necessary or convenient for us. Sometimes we want to use God like a fire extinguisher or an emergency line that we only call when we are in need. But God wants a closer and consistent relationship with us

At the Red sea, the greatest miracle was not that the waters parted and opened a path for Israel to cross over. The greatest miracle was that God was with them. The question today is what happens when you have crossed over to the other side? On the other side, Moses knew that the presence of God was most important. Hence He desired God to always be with them. The challenge is, we sometimes walk alone. Sometimes we want to go ahead of God. We even make decisions without consulting Him. Beloved let us always walk with God and put Him first in everything that we do and in all the decisions that we make.

When we walk with God it doesn't mean that challenges will never come. On the other side storms may come but God still walks with you. And when the storms come you rest in assurance that He is with you. Therefore, you have peace because you know who holds tomorrow and you sleep peacefully. So stop fighting life's battles alone. God never asked you to carry life alone. The Christian life was meant to be lived by the power of God. Honestly bring your life to Him. God is not looking for performers but honest and open hearts who are true to Him over their issues and weakness.

God's greatest gift is not necessarily His protection, it's not necessarily His peace. His greatest gift is Himself. He is our exceedingly great reward. Therefore, we should seek a life with God in it's fullness. Seek God not because of the blessings He can give but because you have come to know who He is in your life and you fully appreciate His love for you.

When all the miracles have passed will you still choose God? Will you still choose God when the prayers seem not to be answered,? Will you still choose God when you have lost your job, when you have been disappointed or when sickness or death come? The real test comes when the healing doesn't come, when God says wait, or when God seems silent.

Romans 8:35 NKJV, "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?" Nothing can separate us from His love. No form of trouble, sickness, stress, disappointment, closed doors, financial crisis, not even death itself can separate us from God. Therefore, have faith.

Faith is trusting God even when nothing makes sense. Today it may not be clear but one day it shall all make sense. One day we will understand it all. One day all questions will be answered and we will know for sure that God was faithful throughout. So let us truth Him in the here and now. Let us not serve Him just because of the blessings, let us serve Him because He loves us and we have known His love. Let us serve Him because of the relationship we have with Jesus.

To know God and to have a relationship with Him is our greatest need and a life lived with the fullness of God is His greatest gift to us. So let's seek to have a closer relationship with Him. Amen and God bless.
