For a church plant whose doors almost closed for good several years ago, Faith Presbyterian sure seems to have a lot to celebrate these days. For the past 10 years, Faith rented small facilities in Cookeville, praying that the Lord might be pleased to grow, both spiritually and numerically, this tiny congregation. In the past two years, the Lord has nearly tripled attendance, blessed the lives of
many families and individuals, and provided a special gift in the process. In May 2010, a year after Pastor Matt Figura was called as the Church Planter, a local family donated a beautiful piece of land out at Roberts Switch to the church. The Lord also raised up an anonymous donor who pledged the exact amount needed to build the new church building completely debt-free. Construction began in October 2010, and the congregation moved into its new home at the end of May 2011. Faith Presbyterian is a congregation of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC), committed to the fundamental truths of the Bible. We are a conservative church, emphasizing the sufficiency of Scripture for all of life and the sovereignty of God over every aspect of life. Our doctrine comes straight from the Bible, and is summarized in the historical teachings of the Reformation. We believe and preach the “doctrines of grace”, which emphasize man’s inability to save himself, God’s initiative in rescuing sinners from eternal death through Jesus Christ by the powerful working of the Holy Spirit, and God’s wonderful promise to keep the true believer safe in the arms of Jesus until the end. If you are looking for a church where the people genuinely love one another, where Christ is preached from all the Scriptures, and where you can grow in your faith, we welcome you to worship with us on Sundays.
