Valentine's Day is a particularly big day for a member of our church family. Mrs. Willine Miller is turning 100!! She is a long time member of the Nazarene Church and a founding member of the Eastside church plant. Mrs. Miller is homebound and can’t come to us to celebrate her, so we’d like to go to her and show her some love. Right after our morning service on Sunday, 13th, we’d like all that can to caravan over and do a drive by “Happy Birthday”. Let’s come together and celebrate this godly woman!

UPDATE: If you worship elsewhere but would like to join us, please contact Pastor Melissa and she will arrange for you to meet us. If you are unable to attend with us, you can still send her birthday greetings. Again, just contact Pastor Melissa and she will get you the mailing address.

For any interested...
The hymnals and bibles at Eastside are not needed for our merged church. It is unlikely that the future buyer will have need of them, particularly with our name. However, we felt that some of our former members might like to get a copy. If you would like any, please contact Pastor Melissa ASAP. Our plan is to be out of the Ralph location this week. As such, we need to know how many to reserve or have you come pick up. We are recommending a $5 per book donation to the church.

UPDATE: Due to illness and the need to cancel church services tomorrow, we will not have a set time to clean today at the Eastside location. However, if you have time and are interested in helping, please contact Pastor Melissa or Pastor Richard and we will arrange something.

As it has become clear, this new strain of COVID, while seemingly milder, seems highly contagious. Flu and other illness is also running rampant right now. Please use precautions as necessary and stay well.

---
The plan is to be at Eastside several hours on Saturday as we continue to clean out. I hope to be there by 10 if you would like to come for a couple of hours. I will likely leave for lunch around 12:30 then be back by 2 if you would prefer to come then. Any and all that are available, we would love to see you and could use your help. Maybe you can't move things - we could also use some willing to clean as well.

Church Family ... the big clean out has begun. We hope to have all things that are going out of here and to our merged location on North Main by the weekend. And, we would love your help if you have time. Some of our youth will be trying to come tomorrow at 1:00 if you would like to join us. Or, I will attempt to be in some during the morning hours. If you have a time that you would like to help out this week, please let me know and we can arrange a time for you to help. It takes all of us.

Happy New Year!

If you have not already, please go and like Sikeston First Church of the Nazarene. We'll be announcing our new name soon, but in the meantime, you can stay updated by following that page. I will archive this page sometime in the near future.

In the meantime, a couple of prayer requests to pass along:
- Robert Burnett family, the father to Jeff, Jeremy, & Rachel and brother to Rachel Sue, Mary, & Michael passed away on Dec. 19th. His memorial service will be on Monday at Ponder Funeral Home. Visitation at 1, service at 2. Afterwards, we will host a meal for the family at the North Main Nazarene Church location. If you are interested in bringing a dish, please let me (Pastor Melissa) know.

- Delbert Curry. He went through a pretty extensive hip replacement in October. However, he had a fall over Christmas. His previously repaired right knee had to be replaced again. The left knee, believed to be ok initially, may now require work as well. Please be in prayer for him, his wife, Alma, and daughter, Judy.

Robert Eugene Burnett, age 64, died Sunday, December 19, 2021, at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. He was born September 27, 1957, in Sturgis, Michigan to the late Charles Ray Burnett and Emily June Burnett. Robert was an avid racing fan who also had a love

Pray today for those impacted by this weekend's deadly storms in the U.S. Midwest and South. The storms spawned likely one of the largest tornado outbreaks in U.S. history. In Kentucky, at least 100 people are feared dead , and at least 14 people lost their lives in four other states. A tornado leveled much of the town of Mayfield, Kentucky. The Church of the Nazarene in Mayfield was spared significant damage, but the facility has no power or water. Overnight, 17 people took shelter in the church. In Bowling Green, the Nazarene congregation spent the day today canvassing neighborhoods to assess and document needs in their community. One Nazarene Disaster Response team from Ohio has already traveled to Kentucky for an initial response, delivering chainsaws and water. Local churches and districts are preparing for both initial and long-term outreach in order to support survivors as they recover and rebuild.
