Missionary Jeremy Height shared that after 27 years of faithfulness, the local Church of the Nazarene in Zagreb, Croatia’s capital, was able to purchase their first building with help from the Alabaster Offering.
For almost three decades, the Church of the Nazarene in Croatia has ministered to and journeyed with their neighbors throughout the country and across the world. During these decades, they have grown into an international church that loves all people through evangelism, discipleship, and compassionate ministry. And during these many years of service, they have prayed for their own ministry building.
In January 2026, they purchased their first ministry center in Zagreb. The Church of the Nazarene finally has a long-term, sustainable ministry center for sharing the love of Jesus Christ in Croatia! This incredible answer to prayer was due to the global prayers of Nazarenes and faithful giving to Alabaster from churches across the world. The building will serve as a foundation for current ministry and a launching pad for disciple-making and church multiplication in the years to come.
In their current assignment, Nazarene missionaries Jeremy and Reetu Height have felt blessed to journey with this local church and its members who represent close to 10 different nationalities. Some members of the congregation relocated to Croatia seeking a better life, some have had to flee war, and others have chosen to follow Jesus even when it led them to have to leave their home countries because of persecution.

One of the Heights’ most impactful experiences in Croatia occurred while sharing coffee with neighbors from Ukraine. These victims of war shared that they don’t even know what country their hometown will belong to when the war ends, and admitted that as the war drags on, it is a struggle to keep believing in the existence and goodness of God. Then one mother confessed: "I don't know if I still believe in God, but when I read about Jesus in the Bible - your church does look a lot like Him."

➡️Devastating Flash Floods in Nepal

Catastrophic flash floods swept through communities in Nepal on August 26 after a massive collapse of glacial ice, rock, and debris in the Himalayas sent a powerful surge of water and mud downstream. Hundreds of people have died, many more remain missing, and thousands have been affected or displaced. Homes, roads, bridges, and other critical infrastructure have been destroyed or damaged, leaving some communities difficult to reach. Search and rescue operations continue as authorities work to locate missing people, provide emergency assistance, and assess the full extent of the devastation.

Nazarene churches and families are among those affected by the flooding, with some church leaders and members experiencing significant loss. As the extent of the damage continues to become clearer, efforts are underway to assess needs and mobilize support for affected communities. Local churches are coming alongside people facing loss and uncertainty, seeking to provide care and practical assistance during this difficult time.

🙏 Lord, we pray for all those affected by the devastating floods in Nepal. Comfort families who are grieving and those still waiting for news of missing loved ones. Provide shelter and essential resources for people who have been displaced and give strength and protection to rescue workers and all who are responding. We also pray for Nazarene churches, leaders, and families who have been affected. Strengthen them as they care for their neighbors and communities, and provide the resources and wisdom needed to serve in the days ahead. Bring comfort, hope, and peace to all who are facing loss and uncertainty. Lord, hear our prayers.

➡️ Growing in Faith Together in Nicaragua

El Timal, a Nazarene child development center in Nicaragua, serves children and families through a holistic approach that supports their physical, educational, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. Through nutritious meals, educational support, health and hygiene education, vocational training, and opportunities for spiritual formation, the center seeks to help children and their families build a stronger future.

Recently, the center partnered with the local children's ministry to hold a Vacation Bible School, where children learned about creation and the stories of Noah, Abraham, and Joseph. Throughout the program, they worshiped together, played games, created crafts, shared snacks, and built new friendships. Most importantly, the team shared that the children were growing in their love for God. Although it was a difficult month as the community faced illness from the chikungunya virus, the team expressed gratitude for God's strength as they continued serving children and families.

🙏 Lord, we thank you for the children and families being served through El Timal and for the people who faithfully care for them. We praise you for opportunities that help children learn more about you, grow in their faith, and experience the joy of community. Thank you for strengthening the team through a difficult month and enabling them to continue serving. We pray for the children, families, and staff affected by illness, and ask for healing and renewed strength. Continue to guide this ministry as it cares for children in every area of their lives and shares your love with the community. Lord, hear our prayers.
