On Memorial Day, we take time to remember and reflect upon the sacrifices of those who have given their lives in service to our country. In commemoration of today, the Presbyterian Historical Society is sharing this 1969 photograph snapped by the Religious News Service at the National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia, during a Memorial Day commemoration service. The caption reads, “This scene will be repeated in every U.S. community on May 30, Memorial Day, when the nation pauses to remember its dead.”

Today is the Day of Ascension!

John Calvin’s theology placed great importance on the ascended and regnant Christ.

Ascension Day is in some ways the Presbyterian feast day. Christ is Lord of the world and head of the church, we proclaim. Christ’s ascension, therefore, concerns us not only with ecclesiastical matters but also with social and political ones. If Christ has ascended, then there are no other rulers — all others are merely pretenders. Christ reigns supreme.

☀️ Sidney Summer Lunch Program 🍎

The City of Sidney Parks and Recreation Department is proud to offer the Sidney Summer Lunch Program beginning June 1 through August 7, 2026.

Lunch will be served Monday through Friday at participating sites throughout the community during the summer months.

Hot meals are prepared daily by Wilson Memorial Hospital and the program is funded through the Ohio Department of Education’s Summer Food Service Program for Children.
