For many years people have used what is known as the Romans Road To Salvation, which uses different verses from Romans to tell the story humanity. I have used it myself, I actually like it so much that my family and I spent some time memorizing these passages of scripture.

One of the things that can happen when we pick different texts from different sections of God’s Word, is that we can fail to read the verse in context of the larger portion of scripture.

Let me give you an example of context. You go over to your friends house and open the garage door and see them standing with blood stained hands, a massive smile on their face, and a rather large knife in their hand. Pretty disturbing, right?

But what if the larger context of this was that your friend was out all morning sitting in a deer stand and they called you because you knew you would celebrate the providence of food for their family. The full context changes everything.

The first verse most point to on the Romans Road says, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”. (Romans 3:23) This is incredibly bad news, but it is followed up with some news that is worth celebrating “and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus”. (Romans 3:24)

In Christ we are justified. A professor at college explained justification to me this way. Just if I’d never sinned. For us to be justified in the eyes of God the only thing we have to do is put our faith in Jesus Christ.

God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. (Romans 3:25a)

If you have put your faith in Jesus Christ, he no longer sees your sin. You have been justified through your faith in Jesus death and resurrection.

This is Good News!

Take some time to reflect and tell God how thankful you are!

Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth
Would care to know my name,
Would care to feel my hurt?
Who am I, that the Bright and Morning Star
Would choose to light the way
For my ever wandering heart?

Not because of who I am
But because of what You’ve done.
Not because of what I’ve done
But because of who You are.

I am a flower quickly fading,
Here today and gone tomorrow.
A wave tossed in the ocean.
A v***r in the wind.
Still You hear me when I’m calling.
Lord, You catch me when I’m falling.
And You’ve told me who I am.
I am Yours, I am Yours.

Meet MVNU Freshman: Britney Robb.

“My name is Britney Robb and I am from Wapakoneta, Ohio. I will be majoring in Intercultural Studies. I chose MVNU because of the community that is formed there. Every time I go on campus, or talk to someone on the phone, I feel so welcomed! It makes me feel like I’m right at home. I love to swim and hang out with my friends. My favorite quote is Jeremiah 29:11: ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’ This verse has been the motto of my life and it gives me comfort when I feel lost. I’m most excited to meet new friends and make bonds that will last a lifetime!”
