God Doesn’t Rush Growth. He Roots You Before He Raises You.
In a world that prizes speed and instant results, it’s easy to feel impatient with our own growth. We want promotions, breakthroughs, spiritual advancement, or answers to prayers “yesterday.” But God’s timing isn’t rushed, but rather, He works in ways that are deliberate, intentional and deeply effective.
The principle is simple: God roots you before He raises you. Just like a tree that must develop strong roots before it can reach incredible heights, God strengthens your foundation before elevating you. Roots are unseen, often slow-growing, and sometimes face resistance. They push through hard soil, face darkness, yet these experiences anchor the tree against the fiercest of storms. In the same way, the trials, lessons, and seasons of waiting in our lives are not wasted but serve to fortifying us for growth.
When God roots you, He cultivates character, wisdom, and endurance. He teaches you humility, trust, and faithfulness. He aligns your heart with His purposes. And when the time is right, the “raising” happens (not by human effort) but by God’s divine timing and power. A person grounded in God can handle success without losing their focus, rise in leadership without pride, and step into destiny without falling.
So, if you feel stuck or behind, remember: growth is happening beneath the surface. God is nurturing your roots. Trust Him. Stay faithful. Keep pressing into Him. One day, when your roots are deep, you will rise upward, strong, stable, and ready for all He has prepared for you.
Reflection: Are you more focused on the rising or on the rooting? Perhaps God is calling you to embrace the season of preparation.
