PASTOR BOB MILLIKEN, PH.D.
LEAD PASTOR, SIDNEY CHURCH OF CHRIST

Dr. Milliken, or Pastor Bob as he is known around Sidney and Lincoln, has taught and preached at Bible Seminaries and churches around the world, including England, Romania, Mexico, Jamaica, Kenya, and India. For the past 50 years Bob has pastored churches in Nebraska and Iowa, including 5 years as campus pastor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (1978-1983). Bob has pastored the Sidney Church of Christ, Sidney, Iowa, since 2002. “Every day is a wonderful adventure, when you walk with Jesus!” Bob likes to say.
Bob’s ministry philosophy: introduce people to the power of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and equip believers as disciples of Jesus, to make disciples who make disciples, living our Jesus’ Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). “You experience the greatest joy in life when you help someone find eternal life in Jesus Christ,” Bob says. “Heaven, forever, in God’s presence! That’s why God made us!”
Bob and his wife Carol also work with international students at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln helping them feel at home in the U.S., building friendships, and bringing them to know Jesus Christ as Savior. Often that includes leading trips to some of America’s premier sites, including, Colorado, Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, and Washington, D.C. Their Friday night dinners host over100 students from every continent! It’s like the United Nations – except everyone gets along!
Bob and Carol also love family, their grandchildren, travel, and gardening! They enjoy hiking, biking, and running, which they do right out their front door on two of the best trails in Lincoln, Nebraska, the Jamaica Trail and Wilderness park! Bob also has a passion for mountain climbing. He’s climbed over five hundred peaks on five continents, including the Matterhorn, shown above.
Bob received degrees in Ministry and Theology from Nebraska Christian College and his Masters and Doctorate degrees in English Literature at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Bob taught English Lit and writing at UN-L for 19 years (1987-2006), where he won many teaching awards. Later, he toaught Theology and English at Nebraska Christian College and Hope international University (2006-2020).
