““Ya Rasulallah (SAWS), your brow is the moon, your face the sun. How honored is he who saw your face! Allah with his Lutf has granted you the title of Rahmatalil Alamin. The Four Books have been sent down only as a Love Poem (Naat) describing your pure virtues. Ya Rabbi! Let me be from those who always praise the Holy Prophet, and open the door of my heart to his pure description, which is like sugar. From the time the Padishah of the Deen shaded this Ummet with his shade, Mercy reaches us and all troubles have gone away. Ahmed has lost himself, thinking, and hoping, and dreaming, Dreaming of reuniting with your Rose-perfumed hair, ya Rasulallah.”-Sultan Ahmed I

The 12th of Rabi al-Awwal marks the Mawlid of Sayyidina Muhammad Mustafa (AS), the Seal of the Prophets, the Mercy to the Universes, the Beloved of Allah SWT.

Allah (SWT) Himself praises him in the Quran. Allah takes oath on his name. Allah comforted him in the Quran. Allah invited him to the Divine Presence and he passed before Sidratul Muntaha, reaching the station of Qaba Qawsayn. Allah dressed him with His own Names of Rauf and Rahim. He sent him to all worlds as a Rahmat, and on the night of his birth the whole of creation rejoiced. His mother Hz. Amine Hatun said: "I saw that he was holding a folded piece of green silk in his blessed hands and an unseen voice was heard saying, 'Rasulallah has grasped the whole world; all the creation has entered into his grasp, with none left out.'"

Hz. Adam (AS) gave this advice to his children: "Whenever you remember Allah, make remembrance of the name Muhammad as well. Verily, I found this name written on the Throne when I was between soul and body. I roamed all the skies and found no place where this name was not written."

Sheykh Lokman Efendi Hz teaches us what this month demands of us: "The claim of love must reflect on your lifestyle. To love the Prophet is to love whom the Prophet loves. And the Prophet loves his Ummat more than anything else except for Allah." He teaches us further: "The sunnah doesn't mean just dressing or giving salawats. The sunnat is the lifestyle, the difficulties, the attitude, the obedience, the sacrifice, the pain."

Sahibul Saif Sheykh Abdul Kerim el-Kibrisi (KS) said: "The Sahaba-e-Kiram left every wealth, every luxury, to reach to the Holy Prophet (AS). To stay with him. To be near him. To submit themselves to his orders. And that made them happy. If you will be keeping the Holy Prophet (AS) up, as where Allah put him, you will be the most happy one. Nothing will bother you that time. Whatever activities are happening around you in this world, they are not going to bother you. Because you are connected to the most beloved one in the Divine Presence."

The Holy Ottoman Empire made the Mawlid a celebration of the state. For over a thousand years from Indonesia to Istanbul to Africa, the whole Empire stood still on this night, lighting candles, walking in procession, making zikr in forty circles until Fajr entered, sending Salawat upon the Holy Prophet (AS). Sheykh Lokman Efendi Hz reminds us: "We stopped doing it. We became so proud. Allah is breaking our backs."

In these days of Rabi al-Awwal we make our intention to raise his zikr, to carry his mission, and to hold on tightly to those who are connected to him. As Sultan Ahmed Han I (CM) wrote: "From the time the Padishah of the Deen shaded this Ummat with his shade, mercy reaches us and all troubles have gone away."

Allahumma Salli wa Sallim wa Barik Alayh. May the blessings of this holy night reach to us, to our Sheykh, and to the whole Ummat. Amin. Al Fatiha.

The Mawlid of Sultan ul-Awliya Grandsheykh Abdullah Faiz ed-Daghestani (KS) marks the birth of one of the greatest saints of the twentieth century, the murshid of Sultan ul-Evliya Sheykh Mawlana Nazim el-Hakkani (KS) and the spiritual grandfather of this tarikat.

He was born in Daghestan and spent his life as a hidden saint, carrying the secrets of the Naksibendi Golden Chain through one of the most turbulent periods in the history of Islam. His physical body is buried in Damascus, where his makam stands. But the awliya are not bound by geography. Sahibul Saif (KS) told us directly that Grandsheykh Abdullah Daghestani (KS) was always present with him in America: “That is why we were able to stand strong as a Muslim here. Otherwise, the different states inside of me would have made me jumbled up in this country.” Sheykh Lokman Efendi Hz confirms that a makam of Grandsheykh Abdullah Daghestani (KS) has been established at the Osmanli Dergah in Sidney Center, Upstate New York, saying: “According to the permission and the power of that Awliya, he may have several Maqams. When that spot is assigned, power continues there.”

It was in the presence of Grandsheykh Abdullah Daghestani (KS), through Sultan ul-Evliya Sheykh Mawlana Nazim (KS), that the order was given to the Haji Fuat ar Rabbani (KS) of Sahibul Saif (KS): “With this son of yours we will enter a continent. And the day will come in that continent when we will say La ilaha illallah in those streets.”

His eyes saw what others could not see. His prayers opened doors that no worldly power could open. The light that came from Daghestan, through Damascus, through Cyprus, through New York, and is still moving.

May Allah sanctify his secret and raise his station, and may his himmet always be with us, amin. Ruhuna Fatiha.

“O Best of all creation! Who am I to send peace upon You? Salam, a hundred times to You at every instant from the Lord of the worlds! O refuge of the rebels! I have come to your door to ask for your protection, with my endless sins. Would that I could ever kiss the place where your blessed foot stepped!” -Hazrati Khalid al-Baghdadi (KS)

The Mawlid of Hz. Mevlana Jelaleddin al-Rumi (KS) marks the birth of one of the greatest saints in Islamic history, born in 604 AH, 1207 AD in Balkh, in present-day Afghanistan.

His name carries a secret. Sheykh Lokman Efendi Hz teaches us: "Rumi means Rum. Rum means the West. So in his name contains the secret of why his teachings, which are the Prophet's teachings, appeal to everyone, East, West, North and South. Even when they try to corrupt his teachings, still the truth comes out."

He would not have become Mawlana without Hz. Shams Tabrizi (KS). That meeting broke him open and poured out the Masnavi, which the Persians call the Quran in Farsi, containing all the lessons of the Quran-e-Kerim in Persian. Sheykh Lokman Efendi Hz shares that Sahibul Saif (KS) told him that Hz. Mevlana Rumi (KS) is present next to him when he travels, in a closeness that mirrors the relationship between Hz. Shams and Hz. Rumi himself.

He could speak to rulers and to children in the street. He could reach hearts of stone. He never hid the beauty of Islam or the Sunnah to do it. Sheykh Lokman Efendi Hz says of him: "His high maqams did not stop him from making Hakk very sweet and very strong to anyone who wants to listen."

May Allah sanctify his secret and raise his station, and may his himmet always be with us, amin. Ruhuna Fatiha.

“May my soul be sacrificed in your way. His name is beautiful, he himself is beautiful, Muhammad (AS). Come and please intercede for your lowly servant. The believers suffer much hardship, but in Ahiret there will be joy and delight. He is the Chosen One of eighteen thousand universes. His name is beautiful, he himself is beautiful, Muhammad (AS).”-Hazrati Yunus Emre
