Shutesbury Community Church

Shutesbury Community Church Located in Shutesbury, MA. with a heritage dating to the late 1700’s. Donate at https://www.paypal.me/shutesburychurch

We gather at 10 Sunday mornings to worship our Lord together and Wednesday evenings for prayer meeting at 6:15 and Bible study at 7. In November of 2009 worship was re-established at the historic 1827 Meeting House on the town common in Shutesbury, Massachusetts. Worship had not been held on Sunday mornings since 2006 and the sanctuary was in disrepair, but through the efforts of many volunteers f

rom the community and from “With His Hands” ministry of Second Baptist Church in South Hadley, the sanctuary was restored and our doors reopened. In 2012, through the faithful offerings of our members and the generous support of friends from the community of Shutesbury, we were able to restore our steeple and the exterior of the Meeting House. It is our joy and privilege to carry on a tradition of Christian worship at this site that was “set apart” for the Lord nearly 200 years ago. Our worship includes both traditional and contemporary elements including hymns, worship songs, prayer, and sharing from the Word of God. We believe in the inspiration of Scripture: accepting that the Bible is “God-breathed” and that the human writers were “Carried along by the Holy Spirit.” In our services it is our hope that the Holy Spirit will continue to “carry along” our church and that God’s peace will be with us as we seek to worship in “Spirit and Truth.”

Our fellowship has a heritage dating from the late 1700’s from both the Baptist and Congregational churches of Shutesbury and was established as the Federated Church in 1911 and ultimately Shutesbury Community Church in 1985. With this heritage in mind we encourage a freedom to think under the authority of Scripture affirming the historic Christian faith without stressing distinctive doctrines and we encourage open mindedness and honest questions.

Thursday is National Day of Prayer. Here is a prayer for our nation from Crosswalk Ministries.

Prayer for National Day of Prayer:

Dear God,

Thank you for your great power. We praise you for your Truth. We’re grateful that you have set us free from the clutching grasp of sin and death.

Would you be with your people, extending your grace, granting your freedom, providing your protection, and empowering with your strength. We ask that you'd bring about an awakening of your presence to America as never seen before. We ask that your Name be proclaimed, that all plans to silence the Name of Jesus would be thwarted and crushed.

We pray that many would come to know you as Lord and Savior, we pray that many would see your Light, that you would open blind eyes and release those still imprisoned.

We pray that you would unify your people for the glory of your Name, that all who call themselves Christians would rise up, believing your great Truth.

Wake us up, Lord! Remind us to live aware, to redeem the time, to listen to your words, to be willing to make a difference in this land.

We pray for all those in authority, that you would give them your wisdom and discernment as they lead. We ask that you would appoint strong, faithful men and women to serve this nation and our people.

We pray for your great healing in America. Shine your face on us, dear God. We need you now, more than ever before. Our times are in your hands.

Thank you that you are rich in mercy and full of grace. Thank you that you are forgiving and merciful. Thank you that you are strong and mighty. Thank you that you are for us and that you fight for us still today. Bring honor to your Name, Oh Lord, for You alone are worthy.

In the Name of Jesus, we pray,

Amen.
