Christianity Didn’t Start In Europe And It Was Never White.
Jesus Wasn’t Raised In Europe. As A Child, He Was Taken To Egypt In Africa And Lived There For Years. The Entire Biblical Story Is Rooted In Africa And The Middle East, Not Europe.
Moses Grew Up In Africa. Jesus Grew Up In Africa. Two Of The Most Powerful Figures In The Bible, Shaped On African Soil.
Christianity Didn’t Even Reach Europe Until Hundreds Of Years After The Crucifixion. By That Time, Ethiopia Had Already Accepted The Faith And Preserved Some Of The Oldest Biblical Texts Ever Known.
No White Person Created Christianity. It Started Long Before Europe Got Involved.
What Europe Did Was Take It, Spread It, And Redraw The Image In Their Own Likeness.
So Let’s Stop Oversimplifying It.
“Africans Had Nothing To Do With It” Is False.
“Europe Created Christianity” Is False.
The Truth Is Clear.
Christianity Was Born In The East, Rooted In Africa, And Later Repackaged For The World.

He was a soldier coming home from war.
He lost his eyes for asking to be treated like a man.
1946.

February 12, 1946.
Batesburg, South Carolina.

Sergeant Isaac Woodard Jr. was 26 years old.
A World War II veteran. Still in his uniform. He had just been honorably discharged after serving three years in the Pacific.

He was on a bus heading home to see his wife. He asked the driver to stop for a bathroom break.
The driver was rude. Sammy told him, "Talk to me like I am talking to you. I am a man just like you".
At the next stop, the driver called the police.

Police Chief Linwood Shull dragged him off the bus. He beat Woodard with a heavy wooden stick.
He didn't just hit him. He jammed the stick into Woodard’s eyes.

He threw the blinded soldier into a jail cell. No doctor came for two days.
When Woodard woke up, the world was dark. He was permanently blind.

The police chief was caught but not punished. An all-white jury let him go in just 30 minutes. The people in the court clapped for him.

But the story reached the White House.
President Harry Truman was shocked. He said, "I had no idea it was as terrible as that". Because of what happened to Woodard, Truman ordered the U.S. military to stop segregating Black and white soldiers.

Isaac Woodard lived the rest of his life in darkness.

He died in 1992.

He fought for freedom across the ocean.

He was blinded for it at home.

He stood up.

He never saw again.

Isaac Woodard Jr.
1946.

Today would have marked the 86th birthday of John Lewis — a man whose life was defined by courage, conviction, and a tireless commitment to justice. Lewis didn’t just talk about change; he marched, spoke, and yes, got into the kind of “good trouble” that shaped history. From the Freedom Rides to the Selma marches, he risked everything to protect the rights of the disenfranchised, leaving a legacy of activism that continues to inspire.

One of the clearest ways to honor John Lewis today is through action. He believed deeply in the power of the vote, the most fundamental tool of democracy, and he spent decades advocating for voting rights. Every registration, every ballot cast, and every voice raised in civic engagement carries forward his mission. Remembering him isn’t just about reflection — it’s about participation, about continuing the fight he dedicated his life to.

So on what would have been his 86th birthday, take a page from Lewis’s playbook: get informed, get registered, and get to the polls. His life reminds us that real change comes from action, persistence, and the courage to stand up for what’s right. Let’s honor his legacy by exercising the rights he fought so hard to protect — and yes, by continuing to get into good trouble, today and every day.
