This is Broadmoor UMY!

We laugh together. We worship together. We serve together. We grow closer to God and each other every day.

Youth ministry is so much more than the trips, the outings, and the mischief. It’s seeing how God is at work in the lives of the young people in our church. And we’d love for you to join us!

For the month of September the youth will be selling stock outside of the worship spaces. Stop by the table and get to know our awesome youth and what makes BUMY so special!

Good luck to everyone starting school tomorrow! This morning we celebrated each student, teacher, and administrator at BUMC. We’ll continue to pray for you throughout the year! We also celebrated one of our own joining the church! Welcome Max and Nicole! May God’s love continue to surround you as faithful members and amazing people!

We made it home! Our trip home was eventful to say the least. Be sure to ask them about their trip this Sunday! Lots of memories made!

For our last day we spent some time helping neighbors in the Northend with odd jobs they needed done. We painted some porches and put down some outdoor carpet. One of our neighbors was hosting a family reunion this weekend so she grilled us some hotdogs for lunch. We rounded out the week with some shopping downtown, dinner at Buddy’s for some Detroit style pizza, and a ride on the people mover!

Light post because there’s only so many pictures of yard work you can take. But these champs knocked out another house today! And they helped paint a basement that was recently repaired from the flood damage Detroit has been facing from the last 6ish years. Today was also sprinkled with lots of rest, lots of laughs, and lots of encouragement as we celebrated each other and the work we’ve done together!

Day 3! One group headed to a local community garden to help plant lettuce, collard greens, and other assorted leafy vegetables that have been in high demand this summer. One group headed to a residential area and helped paint a porch and clean up a garden for a local resident. Both groups saw God today in the beautiful weather and hopeful spirit of new life that we seem to find everywhere we look! The Spirit has been moving and we can’t wait to see how She continues to move in us this week and on our return to Shreveport!

Day 2! We had a half day today. Then we spent some time at the beach swimming in the Detroit River. Dinner was at America’s Coney Island to have the original Coney Dog. We ended the night at a Tigers Game and it ended with a win!!

Don’t worry, we made it to Motor City! And it was a FULL first day. We helped clean up some yards for neighbors affected by flooding, pet a dog, saw some street art, and looked at Canada. When we work together to make God’s Kingdom a reality we experience the flourishing of all creation! It’s an honor to be part of that work!

We’re half way there! Our first travel day was full! We had a not so quick side stop to the Bass Pro Shop pyramid in Memphis for lunch and to check out the observation deck. But we made it to Illinois for a late dinner. Now to sleep so we can finish up the trip tomorrow!
