Thank you St. Cathedral of St. John Berchmans and Catholic Charities of North Louisiana for your generosity and care!

This month, collected diapers and baby hygiene items for Gabriel's Closet as a part of their VBS, where they talked about being the hands and feet of Jesus. Thank you to the St. John Berchmans community for your generosity to the families we serve!🤍👶

Today we celebrate 40 years as the Diocese of Shreveport! Since 1986, God has poured out his graces upon North Louisiana. We are honored to have Bishop Duca back with us today to celebrate this anniversary with Bishop Malone. Thank you for being part of our story!

In honor of our 40th Anniversary, take a moment to reflect on your own journey of faith within our diocese. What is a memory or a parish event that has stayed with you? We’d love to hear your stories in the comments today.

We’ve got a fun night coming up that you’ll definitely want to put on your calendar! On Saturday, August 1, the Cathedral of St. John Berchmans is hosting "Pasta, Pianos, & Priestly Ordinations." It’s going to be a great evening of music and food, all to support our seminarians as they journey toward the priesthood.

The doors at the Parish Hall open at 5:00pm, with dinner served at 5:30pm. Right after the meal, we’ll get to hear a concert featuring Aaron Wilson and Dr. Dan Gibbs. It’s $50 per person for the whole evening, and just a heads-up that this is a 21 and older event.

You can find more details or grab your spot by scanning the QR code on the flyer. It’s a simple way to enjoy a night out while helping the future priests of our diocese. We’d love to see you there!

In today's Gospel, we see a beautiful glimpse of Christ's heart. When Jesus looks out at the crowds, he sees people who are troubled, lonely, and abandoned, and his heart is moved with deep compassion. He recognizes that we often feel like sheep without a shepherd, wandering and looking for guidance in a complicated world. He turns to his disciples and reminds them that the harvest is abundant, calling them to act. We are all called to be a part of that harvest. Through our daily choices, our simple acts of kindness, and our prayers for vocations, we can carry his comforting presence to those who feel forgotten. This week, let us take a quiet moment to trust in Christ's compassion and ask Him how we can participate in the harvest.

Today is the Memorial of St. Anthony of Padua, Priest and Doctor of the Church. St. Anthony is one of the most beloved and well-known saints in the Catholic faith. While many ask for his help in finding lost items, he was first a powerful preacher and teacher of the Word. He is often depicted carrying the Child Jesus because according to tradition, Infant Jesus appeared to him and embraced him while he was praying, an event which was witnessed by an onlooker. May we seek the truth of the Gospel with the same fervor he did. St. Anthony of Padua, pray for us!

Today we honor the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Her heart is perfectly united to the Heart of her Son. As St. Augustine says, Mary "cooperated through charity in the work of our redemption." Our devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus focuses on divine love for mankind, while the devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary shows us human love and devotion directed back at Jesus. By following her example of humble obedience, we find our way closer to Him. Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us!
