Special Announcement: Meet 50 Over 50 Honoree – Rosie Lavonne Weston-Hudson
We are proud to honor Rosie Lavonne Weston-Hudson—educator, counselor, and community leader—as a 2025 Mattie Brewer McCulloch 50 Over 50 Award Honoree.
A native of Shreveport, Rosie is a proud graduate of Southern University (B.S. in Electrical Engineering) and Louisiana State University Shreveport (M.Ed. in Guidance and Counseling). She is the devoted wife of Robert C. Hudson and the loving mother of Charles, DeAnna, and Emmanuel.
For more than 40 years, Rosie has dedicated her career to education and leadership in Caddo Parish Schools. She currently serves as Assistant Principal of Instruction at Southwood High School, and has also led as Principal of M.J. Moore Math Science Middle School, Coordinator of Huntington High School’s Law and Business Magnet Program, and Mathematics Instructor at Huntington and Fair Park High Schools. Her service includes years as a guidance counselor, adjunct professor at Southern University Shreveport, and director of numerous summer and after-school programs that have enriched the lives of youth across the city.
Rosie’s professional honors include Caddo Parish High School Teacher of the Year, Middle School Counselor of the Year, and multiple innovation and community grants for programs that advanced math, science, and student development. Her influence extends into the community through her leadership in the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Jack and Jill of America, and the Louisiana Baptist State Convention, where she has long championed youth and women’s ministries.
Rosie Weston-Hudson is a shining example of faith, leadership, and dedication—an inspiration to her family, her community, and all who know her.
