He is Your God, but is He Also Your Lord?

When we acknowledge God as God
We recognize He rules without contest
And accept His sovereignty over creation
But we may not necessarily obey His commands

When we recognize Him as Lord
We submit to His dominion without reservation
We delight in doing His pleasure
Even when it is a difficult thing to do

We may call Him God and live as we wish
We may call Him God and disregard His word
The demons believe in the Godhood of God
But they have not learned to call Him Lord

To call Him Lord is to relinquish your will
It is to come to the place of surrender
Where you can confess like Christ
Not my will, but Thine be done

You may have called Him God
But is He also your Lord?
