Being Church

Saint Anselm’s is here for you. Jesus came to serve, even to the giving of his life. We are called now to serve in Jesus’ name. This parish church is here as a center for worship, learning, service, and community for all.

Worship. We gather to celebrate Eucharist every Saturday and Sunday. It is the making present of the gift Jesus made of his life on the cross. It is the source of our energy to live here and now the good news that Jesus preached and made real in his actions. both before his death and after his resurrection from the dead. Today we are living in that post-resurrection time. This is a time of both struggle and joy. In our struggles and in our joy, we come together to give praise to God. Our community gathers in prayer also throughout the week, both in-person and online.

Learning. To learn the faith, live the faith. Saint Anselm’s provides opportunities for deepening our experience of God’s life among us for all, from the newest among us to our venerable seniors. Year-round and lifelong, we learn Christ’s ways together.

Service. Following the way of Jesus Christ means serving one another. Our life together as church is not for ourselves. It is for others. Constantly in our Food Pantry and in ThriftShop, and ongoing in our outreach to members of our community near and far in need, we seek to actively serve well our sisters and brothers because we believe. We believe in the dignity of every human being created by God. We believe in the Gospel call to actively reach out in love. We believe we have been given something to offer freely, just as we receive freely.
