If theology is faith seeking understanding, then grief is the place where faith learns to kneel.

In the sorrow of trying to understand the death of an infant, the community discovers that crafted sermons, familiar sayings of comfort, scattered verses, and tidy systems of belief can all fall short.

We stand together in that sacred silence, where there is no true understanding.

But if we are left without understanding, does that mean we are left without faith?

No! Even there, God breaks through with Grace, entering our unfathomable grief and holding what we cannot hold alone, showing us once more that God’s love will not abandon us.
