What does real spiritual growth actually look like?

In this message, we explore how God uses biblical community, accountability, encouragement, grace, and truth to help believers grow in Christ. Spiritual maturity doesn’t happen in isolation, and the church was never meant to be a place where people simply attend and leave unchanged. God calls His people to actively encourage one another, lovingly speak truth, and participate in each other’s growth.

Every life leaves a legacy.

Throughout 1 & 2 Kings, David became the standard for faithfulness, while Jeroboam became the standard for wickedness and leading people away from God. One man pointed people toward the Lord, while the other left behind generations of compromise and spiritual destruction.

The question this passage forces us to ask is simple: What kind of legacy are we leaving? Long after our lives are over, will people remember someone who pursued Christ faithfully, loved others well, and honored God wholeheartedly? Or will our lives point people away from Him? The choices we make today shape the legacy we leave tomorrow.

Our walk with God is never meant to be halfhearted. So often our hearts are pulled in different directions by distractions, compromise, fear, pride, or the pursuit of lesser things. But real spiritual growth happens when we seek the Lord fully and continually bring our hearts back to Him.

The good news is that God does not abandon wandering people — He lovingly calls us back to Himself through His grace. May we be people who pursue Christ with our whole heart and desire to follow Him faithfully each day.

God never called us to follow Him halfway.

Solomon allowed his heart to slowly drift from the Lord, and what started as compromise eventually led him into outright idolatry. Scripture reminds us that God desires hearts that are wholly devoted to Him — not partial obedience, divided loyalties, or convenient Christianity. One sin is enough to make us guilty before a holy God.

But the Gospel gives us hope. Jesus Christ didn’t partially cleanse us from sin — His sacrifice completely washes us clean. Because Christ has loved us fully and forgiven us fully, may we respond by wholly following Him with our lives.

Today, we remember and honor the selfless men and women who sacrificed their lives protecting our country and our freedoms. May we never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and may their courage direct our thoughts to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we may have life and true freedom in Him.

JESUS PAID IT ALL!

The sacrifices of the Old Testament could temporarily cover sin, but they could never fully remove it. Year after year, the debt remained. But when Jesus went to the cross, everything changed.

Christ didn’t simply make another payment toward our sin — He paid the debt in full. Through His perfect sacrifice, forgiveness was secured once and for all for those who trust in Him. That’s why the Gospel is such good news: the work has already been finished through Jesus Christ.

Because of Christ, we do not have to live hiding in guilt, fear, or condemnation. Hebrews 10 reminds us that Jesus has opened the way for us to draw near to God with confidence and assurance. The cross was enough. His grace is greater than your failures, and His forgiveness is stronger than your shame.

You are not welcomed by God because you performed perfectly this week — you are welcomed because Jesus paid the debt in full. So don’t run from God in your weakness. Run to Him knowing His arms are open wide.

“He who promised is faithful.” — Hebrews 10:23

“Why would you go back to limited access when you have the full access that Christ has provided for you?”

Through Jesus, the barrier between us and God has been torn down. Hebrews 10 reminds us that we no longer approach God through endless rituals, fear, or distance — Christ has opened the door completely through His sacrifice. Because of Him, we can boldly draw near to the Father with confidence, freedom, and assurance. Full access to God is one of the greatest gifts of the Gospel.

The world offers endless advice: follow your heart, trust your instincts, do whatever makes you happy. But at the wedding in Cana, Mary gave a far better instruction—“Do whatever He tells you.” Simple, yet life-changing. The best direction we could ever follow is the voice of Jesus, because true life, peace, and purpose are found in trusting and obeying Him.

This past Sunday, we were thankful for the opportunity to honor the mothers in our church family. Today, we reflect on the kind of godly influence Scripture describes in Proverbs 31:25–26. These verses paint a beautiful picture of strength, wisdom, joy, and kindness—qualities that are so often seen in faithful mothers who lead their families by example and point their children toward Christ through both their words and their lives. But these characteristics are not limited to motherhood alone. Every believer is called to walk in God’s strength, embrace His wisdom, speak with kindness, and live with joy rooted in Him. As we follow Christ faithfully, we become examples to those around us of what a life surrendered to God truly looks like.
