In the beginning, Christians were viewed as just a sect of Judaism — which meant they were tolerated under Roman law. But as the movement grew, Rome realized this wasn’t just another branch of Judaism. These believers had their own identity, their own allegiance, and their own unshakable loyalty to Christ. And the empire didn’t know what to do with a people who would gladly give their lives for Jesus yet absolutely refused to worship the emperor. Their courage, their conviction, and their refusal to bow reshaped history.
