Grace in full measure is found in Christ!

Joseph’s reunion with his brothers demonstrates a beautiful scene of reconciliation. The sins of the brothers against Joseph created a relational chasm so severe it seemed impossible to mend. The brothers thought Joseph was dead, or at least they never expected to see him again. The guilt of their sin created a rift too deep to imagine healing. God accomplished what no human plan could. He exposed truth, mended relationships and planted forgiveness in human hearts. If the reconciliation of Jacob’s sons amazes you, the mending of your broken relationship with God should amaze you more.

Life often leaves us in situations like the gap between Genesis 44:34 and Genesis 45:1. We pray for a conclusion; we await an outcome; we long for an answer to the question left hanging in midair. We often find ourselves in the middle of what God is showing us. How do you cope when the tension is high and the conclusion is in “the next episode”? These times allow you to acknowledge the emptiness of your hands and your absolute need for God’s help. These electric moments teach you to listen for God’s moment-by-moment instruction and ask God for faith to take the next breath.

God is always working everything out for the good of those who are called according to his purpose!

God is always working everything out for the good of those who are called according to his purpose!

The twists and turns of Joseph's dramatic story accomplished purposes reaching far beyond the people involved. God rescued the family that would become the nation that would bring the Savior to the world. God deals with many lives at once, and we cannot know all He is doing. We are better able to rest in God’s sovereignty when we appreciate that God is working in multiple people, in multiple situations and in multiple ways, all at once. God’s work is never one-dimensional. We can trust God is doing more than we imagine in ways far beyond what we understand.

God’s love pursues us when we stray❤️

When Jacob’s life in Shechem fell apart because of sin, he turned his face and family back to God. The path back to God is always open. God loves and responds to repentance. Only God’s purifying work turns our rebel hearts back to Him. He pursues us, not when our lives are together, but when we are straying and stumbling.

Joseph, the favored son of the patriarch Jacob, raised as a future heir...fell into slavery in a far-off Gentile land but later rose to a position of prominence as second in command only to Pharaoh. He was loved and hated, favored & abused, tempted and trusted, exalted and abased. Yet at no point in the 110-year life of Joseph did he ever seem to get his eyes off God or cease to trust him.~Boice

God is Immutable🙏

When our moods, personality, relationships, days, weeks and years remain in constant flux, what a comfort to know that God is the most stable part of your world! Every morning when you wake, God is exactly the same as when you went to sleep the night before. God’s perfect character never changes, and He can be trusted completely no matter what your day or year holds.

God meets us where we are and calls us forward - even when we have made sinful choices! In Genesis, we see Jacob reaped painful consequences from his scheme to receive his father’s blessing. He was forced to flee from home because he feared that his brother, Esau, would murder him. However, the One who most intensely pursued Jacob was not Esau, but God. God did not pull away from Jacob because of his deception. God sought fleeing Jacob; He drew near to the man who found himself far from everything secure.
