The Worldwide Body of Christ
One of the most amazing aspects of the early church is how closely the members stayed in contact over hundreds of miles of ancient, dangerous to travel, roads and seaways. Paul’s letters, one way of staying in touch, include dozens of mentions of visits between churches by a wide array of Christians. Through this network, followers of Jesus supported one another as a persecuted, unpopular group within the wider Greco-Roman world. They stayed informed, celebrated God's work, kept focused on the mission, and encouraged faithfulness in beliefs and practices.
When you travel do you connect with other worship communities and Christians? Some of my treasured travel experiences include worshipping with Christians in new places. Whether it is in a US church or one elsewhere in the world, connecting with those who share our faith can be powerful. The Bible says we will spend eternity with the people trusting in Jesus Christ. Now is not to early to get to know a few more!
