First United Methodist Church, Shickshinny will be having special Holy Week services. On Sunday March 29, Palm Sunday, trumpeter Mike Truszkowski will join us for prelude, offertory, and postlude in addition to the congregational hymns. Then on Good Friday, April 3 at 6:00 p.m. Rev. James Parks and the congregation of First United Presbyterian Church, Shickshinny, as well as members from First Reformed United Church of Christ, Berwick, will join us for a Tenebrae service marking the death of Jesus by combining scripture readings with extinguishing candles. Flautist Rachel Schwiter will present special music. Easter Sunday, April 5, our usual 11:00 a.m. Sunday service will celebrate the risen Christ. We hope you will join us for any and all of these services.

The First United Methodist Church of Shickshinny will hold its eighteenth annual Service of Lessons and Carols at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2025. The service consists of Christmas-related scripture readings alternating with choral music and congregational singing of Christmas carols. The choral music will be provided by the Shickshinny Area Community Choir under the direction of co-director Cindy Rupp. There is no admission charge. A free-will offering will be taken to support the choir and the church. There will be a reception in the church social hall following the concert. The church is located at the corner of Rt. 11 and Butler St. in Shickshinny. For more information, call 570-542-7338.

First United Methodist Church, Shickshinny, will host the twentieth Community Choirfest on Sunday, June 22 at 6:00 p.m. This year’s concert is titled “Peace Like a River" and will feature both sacred and secular music, including Linda Marcus and Jack Feldman's "River in Judea," André Thomas' "I Hear America Singing," and the hymn "It Is Well with My Soul." Performing will be the Shickshinny Area Community Choir under the direction of Raphael Micca and Cindy Rupp, accompanist Marilou Hinchcliff, trumpeter Nate Obuhosky, trombonist Cory Perkins, and flutist Rachel Schwiter. Admission is free and a reception follows the performance. The church is located on the corner of US-11 and East Butler Street, Shickshinny. Plans are being made for the twentieth Community Choirfest on Sunday, June 22 at 6:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Shickshinny. Rehearsals begin Tuesday, April 29 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. We'd love to have you sing with us! The choir is under the direction of Raphael Micca and Cindy Rupp.
