If you've followed this page for a while, you know we don't post about celebrities. That's just never really been what this space is for. But today we're making an exception, because Dolly Parton passed away, and so much of her life pointed to the same faith we gather around every Sunday.

Dolly grew up dirt-poor in the Smoky Mountains, one of twelve kids, in a family that leaned hard on God because they didn't have much else to rely on. Her grandfather was a Pentecostal preacher, and Dolly always said church was where she learned to sing before anywhere else. Those old hymns got into her bones early, and she never outgrew them. Even decades into fame, she talked about praying before she walked on stage and believing her voice was a gift she didn't earn.

Throughout her career, she recorded several gospel albums, one of which won her a Grammy, and would often weave hymns into her concerts right alongside her biggest hits.

But her faith showed up most in how she treated people. Her Imagination Library started small, just an idea to get free books into the hands of kids in her home county who didn't have any. It's since mailed out hundreds of millions of books to children all over the world, all because she believed every kid deserves a shot at falling in love with reading, no matter where they start out in life. That kind of steady, patient generosity, showing up for people over and over without needing the credit, is something we recognize. It looks a lot like the love we're called to each and every day!

We're grateful for her life and the impact she made on the world!

We’ve had the incredible privilege of having Dr. David Graves, Church of the Nazarene General Superintendent Emeritus, with us at Sherman Naz for the past two days!

Last night, Dr. Graves reminded us of something so simple, yet so powerful: “Real Christianity is about Jesus Christ coming to live His life in us.”

It’s not just about following a long list of rules or trying to make ourselves better. It’s about Jesus changing us from the inside out and allowing His life to be lived through us ❤️

We have one more night with Dr. Graves tonight, and you definitely don’t want to miss it! Come join us at 6:30 PM as we continue seeking what God wants to do in us.

See you tonight! 🙌

Something is coming to Sherman.

On August 28, we’re launching Alpha, a space where people can come together to explore faith, ask honest questions, and have meaningful conversations about life and God. There will be food, friendship, conversation, and plenty of room to wonder. No pressure. No judgment. Just an open invitation to come and talk.

But before we open the doors, we want to pray.

For the next 21 days, we’re asking our church family to join us in praying specifically for four people whom you would love to see explore faith. Write their names down. Set an alarm for 11:02 AM. And every day, pause and pray for those three people and for our community.

We’re praying that God would be preparing hearts, opening doors, creating conversations, and drawing people to himself. And we’re praying that we would be willing to step into whatever God wants to do through us.

This isn’t about filling seats at an event. It’s about praying for people we love and believing that God is already at work in their lives.

Four names.
Twenty-one days.
11:02 every day.
Let’s see what God does.

Who are your Four?

This past Sunday, Pastor Hope reminded us that transformation begins when the pretending ends.

So often, we believe transformation comes from trying harder, doing better, or presenting a polished version of ourselves to God. But Scripture tells a different story. God does His deepest work in the places where we finally lay down the masks, surrender our striving, and come to Him with honesty. Grace meets us there. Healing begins there. A new identity is given there.

The invitation is not to have it all together before coming to God. The invitation is to come as you truly are and let Him make you into who He created you to be.

Transformation begins when the pretending ends.
