What kind of friend never abandons you, never takes advantage of you, and gave His life for you? This Sunday's message reminded us that Jesus is that friend -- an abiding, unfailing friend to the outcast, the grieving, the sinner, and the struggling.

From Matthew sitting at the tax collector's booth to the weeping sisters at Lazarus's tomb, Jesus met people in their pain and their shame. John 11:35 tells us He wept. He felt it. He still does.

And His friendship is just as real today. He stands with us (2 Timothy 4:17), intercedes for us (Hebrews 7:25), and His word guides us away from self-destruction. But friendship runs both ways -- He said, "You are my friends if you do whatsoever I command you" (John 15:14).

He did the hard part. He hung on a cross, was buried, and rose again -- for you. Come to Him in faith.

Light appears over 253 times in the Bible and consistently stands in contrast to darkness, representing God's presence, activity, and glory. Jesus declared himself the light of the world in John 8:12, and his followers are called to reflect that light.

Darkness is not simply an opposing force. It is the absence of God. And that reframing changes everything about how we see the world around us and our role within it. We are not just nice people trying to do good things. We are carriers of divine presence in a world that is genuinely, spiritually dark.
Walk as children of light as Paul urges in Ephesians 5, and to reflect the light of Christ to everyone around us.

The world possesses more knowledge than ever before but is not more enlightened, because true light comes only from God. Voluntary blindness occurs when people reject God's truth because they prefer the darkness that conceals their evil deeds.

This Sunday's message reminded us of a powerful truth: we are called to be the light of the world in a place filled with darkness. Drawing from Matthew 5:13-16 and the opening verses of John's Gospel, we were challenged to reflect on what it means to carry the light of Christ into every corner of our lives.

Jesus declared, "I am the light of the world" in John 8:12, and that same light lives in every believer. The world is not dark because darkness is more powerful than light -- it is dark because the light is absent. When we walk closely with Christ, we reflect his glory to those around us who are still searching.

If you have never stepped out of the darkness and into the light of Jesus Christ, today is the day. Simple, trusting faith in him changes everything. We hope you will join us and bring someone with you who needs to hear this message.

Faithful parenting and the instruction of children is one of the most critical expressions of the Christian's preserving influence.

Christian's God-given responsibility to positively influence the world. Just as God blessed Abraham to be a blessing to others, Christians are called to function as salt in a morally & spiritually decaying world. Here are 3 ways Christians are to be "the salt of the earth" (Matthew 5:13)

🧂Righteous living: Titus 2:11-13 tells us of God's grace and the call to godly living in the present age. The only preserving influence is the presence of God's people, living out the righteousness described in the Beatitudes. The influence of righteous people before God carries enormous weight. It is not too much to say that the faithful presence of Christians in the world may be one of the reasons God continues to hold back final judgment, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

🧂Faithful teaching: As Christians, we must share the truth of God's word. We must be grounded in the Word of God and teach it faithfully, beginning in our own homes.

🧂Meaningful contact: Salt does not impact what it does not touch. That means knowing your neighbors well enough to invite them for coffee. It means being present in the lives of people who do not yet know Christ. It means living in such a way that the people around you can see something different, something that makes them curious about the source of your peace, your integrity, your calm in the middle of chaos.

Join us as we continue our series on the Christian in the world. Come ready to be challenged and encouraged.

YOU, YOU, YOU are the salt of the earth. That 'you' is emphatic. You and you alone are the preserving influence of the world. And if we're not influencing the world for good, who will?
