First Christian Church-Sheridan Wyoming

First Christian Church-Sheridan Wyoming Worship: Sundays at 9am. Bible Study: Wednesdays at 10am. We are disciples of Jesus' teachings, sharing God's love with our neighbors. on Wednesday.

We are a congregation of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). You can read more about our denomination at https://disciples.org/

Worship is at 9:00 am on Sundays. After Sunday worship, worshipers are invited to stay for chat-n-coffee to touch base with friends and meet new friends. It’s a time to connect and re-connect with friends. Bible Studies meet at various times depending on people’

s interest. Currently, there is a Bible study that meets once a week at 10 a.m. For more up to date information, please check out our monthly calendar. Service is the hallmark of Christian life. Jesus came to serve, not be served. He challenged us to love as he loved; thus, we seek to love others through acts of compassionate service. Some of our service projects include:

Low income senior housing through our ministry at Heritage Towers of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Currently, Heritage Towers is undergoing major renovations to upgrade our building and improve the living facilities of our residents. We serve lunch at Lunch Together / Soup Kitchen. We also help with the administration of this important food program in Sheridan. Lunch Together / Soup Kitchen serves lunch five days a week, Monday through Friday. Lunch Together is a mission project of eight Sheridan congregations who take turns serving lunch to anyone who wants to eat lunch. Lunch is served at First Congregational United Church of Christ located at the corner of Works and Brooks, near the Sheridan County Court House. We support the mission projects of our church, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). For more info, see the links below. We operate a Thrift Store. The Thrift Store is located in the lower level of the church. Hours are Tuesday and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Donations can be made from 9am to 12:30pm Monday through Saturday inside the double brown doors. The doors are located on the front of the church. Helpers are always welcomed too. We help organize the local CROP walk. CROP stands for Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty, and is the action arm of Church World Service, dedicated to stopping hunger in the world. We send clothing to Colorado Christian Home in Denver, a ministry to help abused children. Last summer, we sent a group of kids on a mission trip to Colorado Christian Home. We come from many different religious backgrounds, but we have all found a home at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Sheridan. Come, share the Spirit!

All are welcome! Facilitated by Matt Jones and Chazs Shipley.

What does it look like to read the world as reverently as we read the scriptures? What would it mean for us to live that way? What would it mean to walk through the grocery store reverently, to speak to a stranger reverently, to notice the sky reverently, to wash dishes reverently, to pay attention to the person in front of us reverently?

The church is born when ordinary people discover that God can work through them. Not someday. Not once they have everything figured out. Now. And I have seen that Spirit at work among you.

I have seen it in the ways you care for one another quietly behind the scenes. I have see it in meetings where people chose honesty instead of avoidance. I have seen it in your willingness to imagine new possibilities. I have seen it in your resilience. I have seen it in your laughter. I have seen it in your deep love for this congregation and this community.

You are not the same church you were a year ago. Thanks be to God for that. Because growth always changes us. A seed cannot become a plant while remaining a seed. Transformation requires release. -Rev. Erin Tyler

We remember and honor all those who served and gave their life for the sake of freedom. We choose to not look away from all those impacted by violence, to listen to the stories where people ran into danger instead of away. May we continue to carry out the work of creating a more whole and just home for all.

In your leaving,
we say peace.
With the last light of you dying,
we say peace.
And where there is no peace,
we say peace,
in the hope it will rest in our bones.

In your going,
we say joy.
With the last breath of you leaving,
we say joy.
And where there is no joy,
we say joy,
in the hope it will dwell in our flesh.

In your departing,
we say love.
With the earth taking you in,
we say love.
And where there is no love,
we say love,
in the hope it will come to our souls.
