🙏 A Joyful Day of Confirmation! 🙏

We are thrilled to celebrate the 32 young people who received the Sacrament of Confirmation yesterday, May 9th, at the Church of the Nativity at Immaculate Conception in Pompey, NY. It was a beautiful and spirit-filled celebration as Bishop Lucia laid hands on each candidate and sealed them with the Gift of the Holy Spirit.

We are especially proud of the two wonderful young women from our St. Malachy’s parish who were confirmed: Emma Reinhardt and Gianna Donofrio.

May the Holy Spirit continue to guide, strengthen, and inspire all of our newly confirmed with His sevenfold gifts: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord.

Congratulations to all the confermandi and their families! Thank you, Bishop Lucia, for your pastoral presence and prayerful ministry.

St. Malachy’s is proud of you all! Please keep our newly confirmed in your prayers as they continue to grow in faith.

This afternoon, the Honorable Wendy Kinsella, Chief U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Northern District of New York, approved the Final Decree closing the Chapter 11 reorganization case for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Syracuse. This ruling marks the official conclusion of a process that began on June 19, 2020, aimed at providing reparation and compensation to survivors of sexual abuse.

Bishop Lucia’s pastoral letter.

Today, on this sacred day of Ash Wednesday, Bishop Douglas J. Lucia has released his third pastoral letter, "In You All Find Their Home."

Rooted in our Lenten theme, “Remain in Me,” the letter invites us to renew and strengthen parish life by deepening catechesis, strengthening sacramental preparation, and fostering a richer spiritual life through the Sacraments and the Church’s devotional traditions.

As we begin this season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, Bishop Lucia calls each of us to reflect on how our parishes can be places of belonging, encounter, and spiritual nourishment for all.
