Psalms 46:10 NIV
Today's verse is out of a short Psalm, only 11 verses, and is the only verse in it where God is speaking in the 1st person to the Psalmist. What catches my attention is the 1st sentence of this verse, "be still, and know that I am God". How many of us, as believers, really do this "be still" concept? If I'm being honest with myself and y'all, I don't do it hardly at all. As a result of it I suffer because I don't, if we want to hear God we have to slow ourselves down and consciously slow our thoughts and actions down to spend time in the word and strive to hear God in silence. We'll make excuses like "I've got too much going on" or "I need to get these things done 1st". This is right where the devil wants us, too busy thinking about "distractions" that keep us from spending time with God. Another one, which I'm guilty of, is just plain being lazy. When I get home from work, I don't want to do anything, and that's precisely what I'll do, nothing. The ending of this Psalm is a promise from God, He WILL be exalted amongst the nations and on the earth, whether people believe it ir not. My prayer for all of you, and myself, is that we make the time in our lives to sit quietly and take time to talk with God. You don't need to hear from Him immediately, but know that He hears you and this will bring you into a habit of slowing your mind down and going to Him, which is what He wants from all of us.
(10) He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."
