Today is the day! Retirement!
Although my duties did not compare to other departments I cared deeply about the cemetery and those who are buried here. My employees and I always knew it is about keeping the cemetery beautiful for loved ones left behind.
Please be patient and kind to the new person who is hired, they will have a lot to learn and understand.

POST MEMORIAL CLEAN UP - JUNE 10, 2024
Please remove your wanted items before April 10th
We will be removing Holiday decor, any items in/on the ground, broken or degrading flowers.
Please be reminded that glass, rocks, marbles, and wire are dangerous to us when mowing season begins.

Cemetery Board volunteer members will be at the Chapel to assist anyone who needs help on Monday

Finally!
All drives are passable in the cemetery.
Just in time for the next snow storm!
Couldn't have got there without the help of Todd Foutch coming out with big blower yesterday.
As always, please use caution if you must visit the cemetery grounds.

I just got a call from Todd and he took a plow out to the cemetery to help me out! Please use caution as there is still areas that need to be done.

The cemetery grounds are CLOSED until I can work on making each area passable. The drifts are high enough that I will need to bring skid steer out to move snow when it warms up.
It is with sincere apologizes that there is a delay, I was snowed in at my own home and only got out through the bean field.

Cemetery is closed the rest of today. I'll continue to plow tomorrow once the wind is no longer a hinderance.

Reminder that we encourage you to use caution during this winter weather when visiting the cemetery.
Friday - 12th I will be concentrating on plowing the Southview area for the Iske funeral.
Please be patient as I will clear other roadways as able.

CLEAN UP JUNE 9, 2023

PLEASE REMOVE YOUR WANTED ITEMS BEFORE JUNE 9TH
ALL HOLIDAY DÉCOR, WREATHS, FLOWERS, DANGLING, FADED, BROKEN ITEMS, TOYS, BALLOONS, ETC. ANY ITEMS IN OR ON THE GROUND WILL BE REMOVED.

NON-HOLIDAY FLOWERS IN VASES IN GOOD CONDITION WILL NOT BE REMOVED.

ONE SHEPARD HOOK AND 2 SOLAR LIGHTS PER SPACE ALLOWED
Personal mementos which may cause damage during cemetery cleaning or mowing will be removed from grave sites to improve safety, aesthetics and maintenance costs at the cemetery.

The Shenandoah Iowa Rosehill Cemetery has a severe staff shortage. Just the sexton and 1 part time seasonal worker - Vincent Abbot to care for a 45-acre cemetery.

Without the help of Todd and Street Dept crew coming out to help the past two weeks the cemetery would not be as nice as it is for Memorial Weekend.

In addition, I'd like to thank crew from Water Dept and Sewer Dept for the help this week. All these guys are there when I truly need them.

Your understanding through this season is appreciated as we try our hardest to keep up.
