The Shell Knob Church Of Christ

The Shell Knob Church Of Christ OUR HISTORY:
Our goal is to restore the church to the pattern set forth in the New Testament. Responding to the invitation is purely voluntary. (1 Cor. 11:26).

We accomplish this by looking in the word of God; speaking where the Bible speaks and being silent where the Bible is silent (Deuteronomy 4:2; Revelation 22:18-19). Everything that we do in our worship service and in our daily Christian lives is built on the authority of Christ (Ephesians 1:22-23; Colossians 3:17). SINGING:
Our worship serviced to God is without the aid of any mechanical instrumen

ts. This is not based upon personal preference, but upon the pattern of the 1st Century church, in the word of God. We have been commanded to sing and to make melody in our hearts (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16). Even secular history of the New Testament church reveals that their services were singing only. Therefore, in our efforts to restore the New Testament church, we follow the pattern set forth. PRAYER:
Several times during our worship service to God, the congregation will be lead in prayer by one of the men in the congregation. During this time the congregation will bow their heads and follow along silently as our thanks to God is being expressed and His continual strength and guidance is being requested. PREACHING:
Our minister does not carry any particular title such as, “Reverend” or “Pastor”. He is simply referred to as the preacher or the minister of the congregation. The sermons are based solely upon biblical teaching, not opinions nor man written manuals and creed books. Every lesson is presented in accordance with Book, Chapter and Verse. If you have any questions or comments concerning any sermon you hear, you are invited to discuss them with the minister or one of the men of the congregation at the conclusion of the service. INVITATION:
At the conclusion of every sermon an invitation is extended to anyone in the assembly to respond to Jesus' invitation (Matt. 11:28-30). Those who are non-Christians may come forward and become a Christian by being immersed into Christ through baptism for the remission of their sins. Christians may also respond to the invitation if they need to be restored or to ask for prayers of the congregation. If you desire to be baptized to gain the remission of sins (Acts 2:38) or need prayer, you can make your request known at the conclusion of the service also. LORD’S SUPPER:
The Lord’s Supper is prepared every week which is in accordance with the pattern of the New Testament church (Acts 20:7). This is the time when Christians reverently remember the sacrifice Jesus our Lord has made for us upon the cross. CONTRIBUTION:
Every Sunday a collection is taken in accordance with the pattern we read of in the New Testament (1 Corinthians 16:1-2). This is a free-will offering made by the members of the congregation to support the local work of the church. Have you been searching for the truth your entire life and still cannot find it? The Bible says in John 8:32 that you can know the truth. We are a part of the Lord's body and we strive to do everything in accordance with His will. We speak where the Bible speaks and are silent where the Bible is silent. If you want to know more about the Lord, His one true church, and how to please Him, come join us for Bible class at 9:30am and worship at 10:30am every Sunday morning. Feel free to send us a message if you have any questions and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
