Happy Mother's Day!

Today we celebrate the blessings and joy that the most important women in our lives have given us. For their nurturing and care, we give thanks. In a special way, let us be grateful for:
- Our mothers, by birth or adoption, who nurtured us and supported us through life.
- Our Church who takes on the maternal role of guiding us through life.
- And our Blessed Mother, who protects both the Church and all her children.

We share with you this Mother's Day prayer from Hallow:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of our mothers. We lift up all mothers today. Bless them with strength to continue to care for their children, with the same bold, selflessness Mary showed Jesus. Help my mother and all mothers feel our gratitude and truly know their impact. May we honor them today and on all days as vessels of Your love. In Your name we pray. Amen.

Catholic Home Mission Appeal, April 25-26
Strengthening the Church at Home

April Brings a Chance to Strengthen the Church at Home

Nearly 40 percent of the dioceses in the United States and its territories are “home mission territory,” where small Catholic populations face isolation due to geographic challenges and economic hardship, including the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau. These dioceses serve communities, many in rural areas, that cannot sustain their core ministries without outside assistance. That assistance comes through contributions to the annual Catholic Home Missions Appeal, taking place this year in many dioceses on April 25-26.

Your support for this annual appeal enables home mission dioceses to sustain parishes in remote areas, support formation for priests and deacons, and train leaders in faith formation and family ministries that strengthen new generations of faithful Catholics. The Catholic Home Missions Appeal also supports eparchies of the Eastern Catholic Churches in the United States, helping them meet the unique pastoral and cultural needs of their members, including those who have come to the United States from lands affected by war and terrorism.

Please Strengthen the Church at Home by giving to the Catholic Home Missions Appeal at Mass. If you are unable to give in your parish but wish to make a donation online, please visit .

St. Faustina’s Diary, entry 699:
"My daughter, tell the whole world about My inconceivable mercy. I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and a shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open.

I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fount of My mercy. The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On that day are opened all the divine floodgates through which graces flow. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet.

My mercy is so great that no mind, be it of man or of angel, will be able to fathom it throughout all eternity. Everything that exists has come from the very depths of My most tender mercy. Every soul in its relation to Me will contemplate My love and mercy throughout eternity.

The Feast of Mercy emerged from My very depths of tenderness. It is My desire that it be solemnly celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter. Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the Fount of My mercy."

For the sake of his sorrowful passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world!

The feast of the Divine Mercy is the first Sunday following Easter Sunday. This year, it falls on April 12, 2026.

On Divine Mercy Sunday, Catholics have the opportunity to receive probably the most powerful grace you can receive all year.

According to Father Chris Alar, MIC, of the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception, Divine Mercy Sunday is the “most important day of the year” for Catholics.

What makes the Divine Mercy Sunday grace so unique?

Friday of the Passion of the Lord
(Good Friday)

Then Pilate took Jesus and had him scourged.
And the soldiers wove a crown out of thorns and placed it on his head,
and clothed him in a purple cloak,
and they came to him and said,
“Hail, King of the Jews!”
And they struck him repeatedly.
Once more Pilate went out and said to them,
“Look, I am bringing him out to you,
so that you may know that I find no guilt in him.”
So Jesus came out,
wearing the crown of thorns and the purple cloak.
And he said to them, “Behold, the man!”
When the chief priests and the guards saw him they cried out,
“Crucify him, crucify him!”
Pilate said to them,
“Take him yourselves and crucify him.
I find no guilt in him.”
The Jews answered,
“We have a law, and according to that law he ought to die,
because he made himself the Son of God.”
Now when Pilate heard this statement,
he became even more afraid,
and went back into the praetorium and said to Jesus,
“Where are you from?”
Jesus did not answer him.
So Pilate said to him,
“Do you not speak to me?
Do you not know that I have power to release you
and I have power to crucify you?”
Jesus answered him,
“You would have no power over me
if it had not been given to you from above.
For this reason the one who handed me over to you
has the greater sin.”
Consequently, Pilate tried to release him; but the Jews cried out,
“If you release him, you are not a Friend of Caesar.
Everyone who makes himself a king opposes Caesar.”

When Pilate heard these words he brought Jesus out
and seated him on the judge’s bench
in the place called Stone Pavement, in Hebrew, Gabbatha.
It was preparation day for Passover, and it was about noon.
And he said to the Jews,
“Behold, your king!”
They cried out,
“Take him away, take him away! Crucify him!”
Pilate said to them,
“Shall I crucify your king?”
The chief priests answered,
“We have no king but Caesar.”
Then he handed him over to them to be crucified.
