Devotional: A Lamp That Never Goes Out
Scripture:
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." — Psalm 119:105 (ESV)

Reflection:
In a world clouded by uncertainty and shifting values, the Word of God remains an active, steady, and unwavering light. It doesn’t flicker with the winds of culture or dim with the passage of time. It is a lamp for our feet—close, personal, and immediate. It is a light for our path—guiding us forward, illuminating the way ahead.

The Heartbeat of Scripture: Shub (שׁוּב)
The Hebrew word shub, meaning to turn, return, restore, pulses through the entire biblical narrative. It captures the rhythm of our relationship with God: we wander, He calls us back. We fall; He lifts us up. We forget, He reminds us. We break; He restores. From Genesis to Revelation, the story is one of return—not just of people to God, but of hearts to truth, of lives to purpose, of creation to its Creator. Even when we fail to keep His Word, God’s mercy invites us to shub—to turn back. His Word lights the way home.
________________________________________
• God’s Word is your lamp—close enough to guide your next step.
• God’s Word is your light—bright enough to reveal the path ahead.
• Return, again and again, to the One who never stops pursuing you.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for Your Word that lights my way. Be my portion today. When I stray, turn me back. When I stumble, lift me up. Let Your mercy meet me in my weakness and let Your truth guide me in strength. Amen.

He Is Not Here—He Is Risen!
Scripture Reading:
“Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen! Remember how He told you, while He was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified, and on the third day rise again.”
—Luke 24:5–7

Reflection:
The women who had followed Jesus were faithful even in grief. They observed where His body was laid and honored the Sabbath rest. But early on Sunday morning, they returned with spices, expecting to anoint a lifeless body. Instead, they found an empty tomb—and a message that would change the world forever.

Their confusion and fear were met with this glorious announcemtnt: “He is not here but has risen!” The resurrection was not just a miracle—it was the fulfillment of a promise. Jesus had spoken of this moment, and now it had come to pass. Death had been defeated. Hope had triumphed.

How often do we, like those women, look for life in places of death? We search for peace in temporary things, for joy in fleeting pleasures. But true life is found in the risen Christ. He is not in the tomb. He is alive—and because He lives, we too can live with hope, purpose, and eternal promise.

Closing Prayer:
Risen Lord,
Thank You for the empty tomb and the promise it holds. Thank You for conquering death and offering us new life. Help us to stop searching for life in dead places. Open our eyes to see You, our living Savior, in every moment. Fill our hearts with resurrection hope and help us walk in the power of Your victory.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
