9-26-2024:

John opened us up this morning with Graves into Gardens by Brandon Lake and Elevation worship. The lyrics in this song are impactful in that it reminds us that there is nothing better than God. The world likes to try and deceive us with the “you deserve it” idea. Chasing after money, fame, careers etc… will only leave us searching. There is nothing that compares to knowing God and having a relationship with him. John closed out worship with Great are You Lord by All Sons and Daughters. Another great song giving us the opportunity to just praise God for giving us our life and worship him for all that he is.

Steve Welch brought our devotional time and spoke about caregivers. This was a great message and Steve reminded us that often caregivers are exhausted not only physically, but emotionally and mentally as well. As Christian’s we are called to seek out those who need our support. Caregivers will not generally ask for assistance because they do not want to feel like a burden to anyone. Often times we say “let me know if I can do anything.” As Steve pointed out, when most people say that they truly mean it. We will do whatever we can if someone asks. Steve challenged us to not wait until someone asks for help. We need to pray and seek out ways we can help and then act, without being asked. Thanks for the message Steve!

As always, we closed out with God stories and broke into small groups to pray over one another.

Just another blessed day at the Forge. Join us at NHS every Thursday at 6am!

The Forge 9-19-2024:

John chose The Way by Pat Barrett and Firm Foundation by Cody Carnes to open us up in worship this morning.

Firm Foundation is one of my favorite songs because of the message. In Matthew, chapter 7, verses 24-27 it tells the story of two men, one who built his house on a rock and the other who built his house on sand. When the storm came, the house built on the rock stood firm, but the one built on sand fell. The parable shows the importance of building our lives on a strong foundation, which is God. Just as a house needs a solid foundation to withstand the storms, our lives need a strong foundation in God to help us navigate through the challenges we face.

John finished with a quick message about Daniel. Daniel was tasked with interpreting the dreams of King Nebuchadnezzar to spare not only his life, but the lives of many others. Prior to this, Daniel went back to his friends and urged them to pray to God for mercy and to reveal the kings dreams to him to interpret. John spoke of how this reminded him of what we have at the Forge. A group of men to lean on and pray together. Good word, John!

Darin brought our devotional this morning and focused on compassion. Darin shared a reading from Gods word in Mark 6:30. Jesus and the disciples had just finished a long period of sharing the gospel/teaching. The disciples reported they had not even taken time to eat. John the Baptist had also just been beheaded prior to this. Jesus and the disciples attempted to move to a solitary place to rest and eat. However, a large crowd followed. But Jesus did not turn them away. The Bible tells us that “When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.” God calls us to do the same. Take the time and show compassion to those we encounter. Darin shared that God will send people into our lives at just the times we need them. It is our job to be obedient and discern those times God is calling us to be that person for someone else. Darin finished by sharing that we can only be as strong as leaders as we are followers. This occurs by us taking on the characteristics of Jesus.

As always, we finished the morning with God stories and small group prayer.

Just another great morning at The Forge!!

Join us next Thursday at 6am at New Hope Shelbyville!

The Forge 9.12.24:

Today, John opened us up with House of the Lord by Phil Wickham. John gave a brief message about the song being referenced by Phil as a “Joy bomb” and how this song was written when they were not feeling joy. John spoke about how, as Christians, we can choose joy everyday because of the gift we have from Jesus Christ. Thanks for the encouragement today, John. John finished by leading us in Build My Life by Pat Barrett.

Lucas brought our devotional this morning and tackled a very difficult topic! Thankful for his boldness to speak on politics and Christianity! Lucas opened up with Jeremiah 29:7 which says “Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” Lucas shared that If we believe in God and that God is good then we must believe his plans for our country are good. As Christian’s we must hold to political views that align with God.
We cannot remain neutral because it confuses good and evil. We need to wake up, take a stand and vote for strong Christian principles. Lucas closed with the fact that policies will be forever changing but a biblical world view will never fail! Thanks again, Lucas, for the message this morning!

As always we ended the morning with God stories and prayer in small groups.
