Church Family,

I want to share an update with you regarding our schedule for tomorrow. As you know, I do not like to cancel church, and it is especially difficult for me to cancel Sunday School. I value that time of teaching and fellowship very highly. However, after careful thought and prayer, we will be canceling Sunday School for tomorrow.

The Spanish service is also cancelled.

We are planning, Lord willing, to still have our Sunday morning worship service. We look forward to gathering together to worship the Lord. Please be wise in making your decision to come in person. I want to emphasize that while the church will be open, if you cannot make it safely or you have concerns about the roads between your house and the church, you can watch online.

As for Sunday evening, that will be a “wait and see” situation. We will continue to monitor conditions and will communicate with you as soon as a decision is made.

Thank you for your understanding, your prayers, and your faithfulness. We trust the Lord’s wisdom in every decision and desire to honor Him in all that we do.

Sunday night was the Commissioning Service for Stephen & Jenifer. We are thankful for the Minion family. Maranatha is honored to be their sending church! We look forward to seeing what God will do through their efforts in Brazil in the coming days and years!

Bro. & Mrs. Thompson and our teens headed off to Servants Heart Camp early this morning! Please pray for their safety & that the Lord would do a great work in their hearts this week. 💙

We enjoyed a beautiful hike up Crowders Mountain yesterday with our College & Career group (at least those that are still home for the summer). What a beautiful day to experience God’s handiwork!! Ps. 19:1

Sunday morning we recognized and awarded those in our Master Club ministry. We are thankful for all of the faithful workers who have helped week after week. We are especially thankful or Samuel Hanke for stepping up and taking over the leadership role & Emily Shumaker for taking over the secretary role for the year. They have done an outstanding job.

Our Teens hosted a WALOP (We All Love Our Parents) Banquet for their parents and family Saturday evening. The food was simply amazing, the fellowship was sweet, the game was fun but most importantly the parents left greatly encouraged by the presentation by the young people. They sang a few songs, did a reader theater on missions, and they performed a play. The evening ended with a video that the Thompsons made of each young person giving a personal message to their parents. We’re thankful for the Thompsons and their passon for pointing our youth towards Christ and their parents.

This week we said “See ya later” to the Minion family (we don’t really like “good-bye”). We are thankful for the investment they have made these past 5.5 years here at Maranatha. Pastor Stephen has faithfully led the choir / music ministry, the Youth Group plus all the other “miscellaneous” things Assistant Pastors do. 😉 We pray God blesses them as they launch out into full time deputation. We are excited to see what God does through them as they reach the people of Brazil.
