Pope Leo XIV is inviting Catholics around the world to join him in praying the Rosary for peace this Saturday, May 30.
The Rosary will be prayed live from the Lourdes Grotto in the Vatican Gardens at 7:00 p.m. Rome time (10:00 a.m. Pacific Time) as part of a worldwide initiative organized by the Dicastery for Evangelization. Catholics everywhere are being encouraged to unite spiritually with the Holy Father and pray for peace in a world marked by war, division, and suffering.
Several major Marian shrines across the world will take part, including Fatima in Portugal, Lourdes in France, Antipolo in the Philippines, Zarvanytsia in Ukraine, Loreto in Italy, Medjugorje in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Shrine of St. Charbel in Lebanon.
At the same time, Catholics in the United States will be able to join a livestream prayer gathering led by Monsignor Walter Rossi from the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C.
In a recent homily, Pope Leo XIV encouraged the faithful to pray for an end to war and reminded us that true peace comes from the "omnipotence of love."
Since the beginning of his pontificate, he has repeatedly called for prayers for those suffering from violence, especially in the Middle East, Africa, and Ukraine.
In times of uncertainty, it's easy to focus only on human solutions. Catholics are also called to turn to prayer and place their trust in God.
This Saturday, Catholics from every continent will be invited to pray the same Rosary together for peace.
