❄️ Ice Storm Update for Saturday, Jan. 24 ❄️

Due to the impending ice storm, Cleveland County services and facilities will operate on adjusted schedules:

Facility Closures / Changes

• All Convenience Sites & Landfills: Closing at 12 noon Saturday
• Cleveland County Animal Services: Closed Saturday (1/24)
• Foothills Public Shooting Complex: Closed Saturday (1/24) & Sunday (1/25)
• Cleveland County Library System: Both locations closed Saturday (1/24)

Warming Shelter Available

Royal Priesthood Biker Church (For All People)
📍 634 S. Lafayette St., Shelby, NC
⏰ Opens Saturday at 12 noon

Please note:

• Bring covers/blankets
• Bring medications or necessary medical machines
• Bring basic toiletries (no shower access)
• No pets
• No drugs, alcohol, or weapons
• Please be respectful to volunteers

📍 230 E. Dixon Blvd., Shelby, NC
⏰ Opens Saturday at 6 PM

Limited medical support is available for individuals needing power for oxygen concentrators who are ambulatory. Those individuals must call 911 Communications first for screening, as bed availability is limited.

Please bring:

• Blanket (one provided, but personal is encouraged)
• Medications
• Basic toiletries
• No drugs, alcohol, or weapons
• Please be respectful of staff and others

🔷 Non-Emergency Information Line:
• Citizen’s Phone Bank: 980-484-4636 (INFO) — This line will be live beginning at 5:00 PM on Saturday, January 24, and will provide information on where to find gas, groceries, medication, and other essential resources.

Please plan ahead and stay safe during the storm. 💙

💚Fit & Fresh is a FREE 12-week program providing FREE YMCA Memberships and FREE Fresh Produce Boxes. The program will run March – May with weekly check-ins at the Cleveland County Health Department.

Are you eligible? You must…
🔹Be a resident of Cleveland County
🔹Be a patient of the Health Department’s Primary Care or Child Health Clinic. Not already an established patient, but interested in joining? Call us to schedule an appointment at 980-484-5100.
🔹Have been told by a doctor that you are prediabetic or diabetic and have high blood pressure or obesity.
🔹Have challenges with accessing healthy food/fresh produce.
🔹Have a desire and motivation to improve your health.
🔹Have access to transportation for weekly food box pick-up at the health department.

Call 980-484-5100 and ask to speak to Primary Care about our Fit & Fresh Program. You must sign up by January 28th, 2026 to participate in our program that runs March - May.

Fit & Fresh is a partnership between CCHD, the YMCA, and Shelby Mission Center.

450 pounds of BBQ, 20 sweet potato casseroles, 24 cans of green beans, 24 cans of corn, and 600 rolls can only mean one thing….its Thanksgiving at the mission camp! Close to 600 meals will be delivered tomorrow, and we’re thankful for so many that will be involved in making it all happen!
