Today's message in the series "Walk with Jesus through the Gospel of Mark" is based on Mark 2: 1-12. Because the house is too crowded to get in, a paralytic's four friends make a hole in the roof so that they can lower him to Jesus. Following are some discussion questions related to the sermon:
1. What obstacles might prevent someone from approaching Jesus, as seen in the story of the paralytic?
2. How does the faith of the paralytic’s friends inspire us to support others in their spiritual journey?
3. Why do you think Jesus prioritized forgiveness before physical healing in this story?
4. What does this passage teach us about Jesus’ authority and identity?
5. Are there “excess baggage” or burdens in your life that make walking with Jesus difficult? How can repentance and forgiveness help lighten your load?
6. How do you respond when you encounter barriers—internal or external—to putting Jesus first?
7. What role does our church community play in helping us overcome obstacles and grow in faith?
8. How can we encourage one another to seek both spiritual and physical restoration?
9. What prevents you personally from “walking with Jesus”? How might you address these challenges?
10. How does Jesus’ power to restore and forgive shape your understanding of your own spiritual journey?
