🙏 **Hold Fast to What You Have Learned**

Today's First Reading: Second Timothy 3:10-17
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 119:157, 160, 161, 165, 166, 168
Gospel: Mark 12:35-37

---

Saint Paul writes to Timothy with pastoral urgency: "Continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus."

In a world that shifts and deceives, Scripture is your anchor. Everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ will be persecuted; because a Christ who is only admired offends no one, but a Christ who is obeyed will always clash with a world that wants to stay in charge of itself.

The question before you today: Will you honor Christ with more than your lips, or will you let Him truly be Lord of your life?

Quote of the Day
“Let us stand fast in what is right, and prepare our souls for trial. Let us wait upon God's strengthening aid and say to him: 'O Lord, you have been our refuge in all generations.'” -St. Boniface

📖 **Scripture Roulette | Tobit 12:8**

*"Prayer and fasting are good, but better than either is almsgiving accompanied by righteousness. A little with righteousness is better than abundance with wickedness. It is better to give alms than to store up gold."*

These words come from the angel Raphael — right after he reveals his true identity to Tobit and his son Tobiah. The whole journey, Raphael had been walking with them disguised as a human companion, and he closes by delivering this parting message before ascending to heaven.

Prayer, fasting, and almsgiving — together with the proper attitude toward wealth — are the very things Christ takes up in detail in the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 6. They aren't three separate disciplines. They're one integrated life of holiness. And Raphael says the crown of that life is **generosity paired with a just heart.**

The emphasis on almsgiving as a form of purification highlights the importance of generosity in the Christian life — it's not just nice, it's *spiritually necessary.*

💬 **This week's challenge:**
Give something away that costs you enough to feel it. Not spare change — something real. Pay for someone's groceries. Cover a bill. Hand cash to someone working in the heat. Do it quietly. Then notice the peace that follows.

That peace is Raphael's point, confirmed in your own soul. 🙏

God Is Singing Over You 🎵

"The Lord, your God, is in your midst, a mighty savior. He will rejoice over you with gladness, and renew you in his love; he will sing joyfully because of you." — Zephaniah 3:17 (NABRE)

Take a moment and read it again — but this time, replace "you" with your own name.
That's God talking about you.

# Zephaniah 3:17 — God's Song Over You 🎵

---

The Lord, your God, is in your midst, a mighty savior. **He will rejoice over you with gladness, and renew you in his love; he will sing joyfully because of you, as on festival days.** — *Zephaniah 3:17 (NABRE)*

---

Do you know what God thinks when He looks at you?

Not what you think. Not what you fear. Not the voice in your head that whispers about your failures.

God is *singing.*

Not sighing. Not tolerating. Not keeping score. **Singing.** The Hebrew word means erupting, exulting, shouting in triumph — the kind of joy a father has when his child comes home.

This is the God of the Bible. This is the heart He revealed to us through the prophets, perfected in Christ, and continues to offer you every single day.

Whatever weight you carry this week — whatever is hard, whatever feels impossible, whatever you think disqualifies you — hear this: **God rejoices over you.** Not because you've earned it. Not because you're perfect. But because you are *His.*

That changes everything.

**Faith isn't just something you know. It's something that changes you.** 🔥

When people hear about the Catholic faith, they sometimes expect a list of rules. What they find — if they're truly open — is something far more radical:

*A God who doesn't just inform you. He remakes you.*

Interior repentance isn't just feeling bad about sin. It's "a radical reorientation of our whole life" — a total return to God, paired with a real desire and resolution to change, rooted in hope in God's mercy.

And here's the part that matters most for sharing the faith:

The Holy Spirit heals and transforms those who receive Him by conforming them to the Son of God. The fruit of the sacramental life is that the Spirit makes the faithful partakers in the divine nature itself.

Confession doesn't just clear a ledger — the grace received helps us combat our faults and failings and break habits of vice more easily than we could without it.

The Eucharist doesn't just commemorate a meal — it nourishes daily conversion.

Throughout the ages, countless individuals have seen their lives transformed through their Catholic faith. For those who choose Christ and His Church, a lifetime of adventure awaits — not the kind seen in movies, but one of faith that grows until it permeates every aspect of our being. As we place our lives in the service of God and others, transformation inexorably follows — the kind we were made for.

People aren't desperate for more information. They're desperate to know that **change is actually possible.**

That's the Good News worth sharing. ✝️

---

💬 **Reflect on this:** If someone asked you today, *"How has your faith actually changed you?"* — what would your answer reveal about where you are in letting grace do its work?

❤️ **The Two Great Commandments** ❤️

A scribe once approached Jesus with a question that cuts to the heart of everything:

*"Which is the first of all the commandments?"*

Jesus replied: *"The first is this: 'Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is Lord alone! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' The second is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."*
— **Mark 12:28-34 (NABRE)**

Two commandments. One Love. God first — then every person He has placed in your path.

Notice that Jesus doesn't separate them. Love of God and love of neighbor aren't two competing priorities — they are one seamless movement of the heart. You cannot truly love God while hardening your heart toward the person beside you. And you cannot love your neighbor rightly without first being rooted in God.

When Jesus saw how wisely the scribe had answered, He said: *"You are not far from the kingdom of God."*

Wisdom begins by knowing what matters most.

This week, ask yourself: Does my schedule reflect these two commandments? Does my time, my attention, my energy — love God first and neighbor second?

The kingdom of God isn't far. It starts right here. ✝️

✝️ **Daily Mass Readings — Wednesday, June 3, 2026**
🩸 *Memorial of Saint Charles Lwanga and Companions, Martyrs*

Today the Church honors the **Uganda Martyrs** — young men who chose death over sin, standing firm in their faith even as flames rose around them. Their witness echoes through every age: **the resurrection is real, and it changes everything.**

In today's Gospel, the Sadducees try to trap Jesus with a clever riddle about marriage and the afterlife. Jesus cuts straight to the heart of it: *"He is not God of the dead but of the living."* (Mark 12:27)

God is not a distant memory of the past — He is the living God of *right now*, holding Abraham, Isaac, Jacob… and *you*… in an eternal relationship that death cannot break.

Saint Charles Lwanga and his companions believed that. They staked their lives on it.

**Do you?**

🙏 Take a few minutes today to sit with these readings. Let the faith of the martyrs stir something in your own heart.
