❤️ Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

❤️ Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

On Gaudete Sunday, We Rejoice

The Third Sunday of Advent, called Gaudete Sunday, is a celebration of joy in the Advent season. "Gaudete" is Latin for "Rejoice", the same word used in the well known words from Philippians 4:4, "Rejoice in the Lord always."

This Sunday, we light a pink/rose candle on the Advent wreath to signify the nearness of Christmas and the coming of Jesus. The theme shifts from expectation to rejoicing because the Lord is coming, with our attention turned to God's joy, forgiveness, and the hope found in faith.

"Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I say, Rejoice!"

Our Everlasting Peace

It's already the Second Sunday of Advent, when we light the Candle of Peace. It can signify Jesus's arrival as the "Prince of Peace," reminding us of the angels' message and the hope for inner calm amid worldly strife - a peace found daily through faith, reconciliation, and living His teachings of love and kindness.

May the Peace of Christ be with you today and always!

Today, we remember a remarkable and meaningful date in our church’s history.

On December 7, 1941, while the world was shaken by the attack on Pearl Harbor, a small group of faithful people gathered and founded what would become our church community. Out of a day marked by fear and uncertainty, our congregation began a story rooted in hope, fellowship, and God’s steady presence.

As we honor our church’s founding on this historic day, we also pause to observe Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day—remembering the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the resilience of a nation.

On a date that holds both sorrow and new beginnings, we give thanks for the unwavering light of community, faith, and the courage to build something good even in troubled times.

🙏🏾 God,

Help us to be the peace we hope to see in the world. Let our hearts and minds join with like-minded souls around the world to live out Jesus' mandate for nonviolent direct action with individuals, neighborhoods and nations.

Bless us with compassion, strength and courage for the days ahead. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Our Ever-Present HOPE

As the Christmas season approaches, we joyfully open our hearts to the sacred time of Advent. This is a period of intentional waiting, anticipation, and spiritual preparation for the coming of Christ, where the hustle and bustle of the secular world is set aside in favor of quiet reverence. We invite you to slow down, light a candle, and join us in observing this beautiful, reflective time both in a faith community and in your own way.

Today marks the First Sunday of Advent, often recognized as the Sunday of Hope. We light the first purple candle, a beacon symbolizing the hope found in the promise of the Messiah. As the world grows darker, may this light remind us to keep our spirits bright and our faith strong, trusting in God’s unfailing promises and the everlasting hope that His arrival brings to the world.

Let us cherish this HOPE as a guiding light through the coming weeks.
