Dear God,

You have said in your word that when my heart is overwhelmed I can cry out to you - the Rock that is higher than I and a constant in the midst of the - shifting sands of life. You are my greatest stronghold and my certain hope. No matter what I face, you hear me and you are working in all the details that I cannot see for my good and for your glory.

When I do not know where else to go, your Word tells me I can run to you and that you will hold me fast in the storms of life. Thank you Lord, that I can put my trust in you and never be disappointed because you are a faithful, covenant keeping God who is always with me and always for me.

“Repent and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped out, that seasons of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.“ ~ Acts 3:19-20

“Do you live with constant pressure and anxiety? Do the ways you seek relief leave you unsatisfied and still stressed? According to Acts 3:20, “seasons of refreshing” come from “the presence of the Lord.” What an apt description of revival! God invites us to come to His presence. There – and only there – will we find genuine rest.

A revived life is marked by God–centered thinking. It renews the mind. We begin to view things from His perspective rather than from our own limited and natural vantage point.

Someone has described revival as a “complete takeover” where God is returned to His rightful place as Lord of our lives. Old habits are put away, a new ones are established. Resentment and despair are buried and replaced with contentment and hope. Forgiveness flows freely.

As we turned back to God and seek His presence, revival begins – healing, restoring, and renewing every part of our lives. Step into His presence and let God take over.

Where in your life do you need God‘s refreshing presence? What does it look like for you to step into it fully?”

It’s important for us to remind ourselves of this when we feel the sting of disappointment, the pangs of jealousy, or the guilt or pity that comes with the assumption that we’re the only ones with a messy life.

Sure, some seem to have more intense and lengthy trials than others, and for that, God often doesn’t explain why. But the reality is, most have more going on than we realize - and even if it’s not obvious affliction that all can see, there are many hidden burdens that are being carried behind the scenes.

The truth is, God hasn’t given us the grace, wisdom, or strength to live anyone else’s life but our own. And when we look longingly on the circumstances of others or we foolishly assume our lives are better than those around us because we must be doing something right - we set ourselves up for all sorts of inner turmoil that does nothing but hinder us from humbly walking in the grace and strength God has given us for what he’s called US to in this season. And yes, it’s always a season.

So I encourage you today - fight the temptation to compare to those around you - whether that be their earthly trials or earthly blessings. Because the truth is - not only has God called us to contentment in where he has us, but what you’re comparing to is often a skewed and one dimensional view of a multidimensional reality.

And if your trials are truly greater than those around you, then God’s graces will be multiplied for you as well. Because in God’s kingdom, he is refining his treasured possessions into gold that is pure, imperishable, and reflect his image to the world around you.

“But he knows the way that I take; when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold.” Job 23:10

“If my heart could tell a story
If my life would sing a song
If I have a testimony
If I have anything at all

No one ever cared for me like Jesus
His faithful hand has held me all this way
And when I'm old and grey
And all my days are numbered on the earth
Let it be known in you alone
My joy was found
Oh my joy, my joy

Let my children tell their children
Let this be their memory
That all my treasure was in heaven
And you were everything to me” 🩷

𝐈𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝑺𝒐𝒑𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒏?

“Encourage the young women to love their husbands and to love their children, to be self-controlled.” ~ Titus 2:4-5

“The word for self-controlled in Titus is the Greek word 𝘴𝘰𝘱𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘯. It comes from two other Greek words — 𝘴𝘰𝘰𝘴, meaning “sound” or “saved,“ and 𝘱𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘯, meaning “outlook“ or “mind.” When we put the two together, it means to have a “sound“ or a “saved“ mind.

I’ve come to see this as one of the most practical and vital aspects of my personal walk with the Lord. My reactions to everyday or unexpected circumstances can often be explained by asking one basic question: “Is it 𝘴𝘰𝘱𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘯?”

Are my words, actions, or reactions excessive, compulsive, or unstable? That’s a dead giveaway that, at least in that moment, I’m not 𝘴𝘰𝘱𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘯. I lack the self-control that flows out of having a “sound mind. “

And that’s true for us all. When we consider some of the foolish choices we’ve made, most of them were when we were basing our actions on faulty thinking or simply reacting without any thought at all. In other words, when we weren’t operating from a sound mine. When we weren’t 𝘴𝘰𝘱𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘯.

How would being 𝘴𝘰𝘱𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘯 affect your words, actions, and reactions? How can you develop this character characteristic in your everyday life?”

“If I didn’t know that Jesus was in this boat with me, I would be discouraged. I would be terrified. I would give up. I would know we were going to drown.

But what brings peace, encouragement, grace, confidence, and security to my heart—what enables me to sleep well at night—is knowing that I am never alone in the boat. No matter how stormy and high the waves, no matter how threatened my boat may be, I know that Jesus is in that boat. He’s there with me.

It’s His presence that gives me confidence, that sets me free from fear, and that enables me to move forward, knowing this boat may fall apart. But even if I fall into those waves, I’m not alone. He has said, ‘I will be with you.’

He’s with you in your boat today. He’s with you in your storm today. You say, ‘I’m not in a storm today.’ Well, you may be tomorrow, and He will be with you then and there. ‘I will never leave you or forsake you.’ Don’t be afraid.”

—Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

No matter what storm you’re facing, you are never alone. The Lord is with you, and His presence changes everything.
