🚨 Your help is needed.

Families in western Washington are experiencing urgent need amid the profound damage and destruction caused by record-breaking flooding and mudslides. Since December 8, at least one person has been killed, tens of thousands of people have been evacuated, dozens of roads are washed out, and more than 600 water rescues have been conducted.

World Renew Disaster Response Services (DRS) is preparing a response, working with a trusted local partner to support cleanup, rebuilding, and long-term recovery in Washington as families work to repair their homes and regain stability.

This response comes after DRS volunteers provided support for flooding in Whatcom County in 2021, where many vulnerable families are now facing major losses again.

World Renew also is monitoring the situation in Canada, where local flood response efforts through a local Christian Reformed Church are already underway in British Columbia.

Last week, a series of atmospheric rivers caused extreme flooding throughout the Pacific Northwest. Just before the Christmas season, more than 100,000 residents on both sides of the border received evacuation orders to leave their homes and communities. Within days, thousands of homes in Canada and the United States were impacted by this devastating flood.

As floodwaters recede, please join World Renew in praying for those affected:

🙏🏼 Pray for God’s provision and protection for families left homeless by the flooding, that they may find safe shelter, support, and hope in this difficult time.

🙏🏼 Pray for families clearing waterlogged debris and working to prevent mold growth in their homes, that they would have the strength, resources, and helping hands they need.

🙏🏼Pray for World Renew Disaster Response Services’ local partners, Whatcom Long Term Recovery Group in Whatcom County, Washington, and Abbotsford Disaster Response Coalition in Abbotsford, British Columbia, as they discern how best to walk alongside their neighbors and care for their communities.

Lord, you are our refuge and strength. We ask you to surround families across the Pacific Northwest with your comfort, to unite communities in compassion, and to guide all who are responding so that your healing and hope are made visible in the weeks and months to come.
