Hope Church is a community of Christians from many church backgrounds who have come together to offer authentic worship to God and genuine hospitality to all whom God brings through our doors. Our worship includes the use of scripture, prayer, praise songs and hymns in a comfortable and inviting way. Children may join in their own worship group during our morning service. We encourage everyone to

discover how the Spirit has equipped them to serve as a transformed and transforming disciple of Jesus. We offer care and support for each other on our journey home. - See more at: http://www.churchfinder.com/churches/wi/sheboygan/hope-church .a63nWe1Z.dpuf

Worship & Wonder Summer Bucket List

As the school year comes to a close and the warm weather of summer approaches, many of us experience life in a very different way. We get outdoors, we spend time in God's creation, and perhaps we leave on vacation. One of the truths we receive in Scripture is that no matter how our lives change (or stay the same), God is intent on being with us. With fewer Bible studies and program commitments at Hope Church this summer, we encourage you to prioritize new ways of connecting with God and others. To help you along the way, we've put together this Summer Bucket List (linked below) to lead you into worship and wonder wherever God might take you.

Photo Challenge: This bucket list invites you to participate in worship and wonder outside of Sunday morning. Share a photo from your summer that represents how you've experienced God outside of church, while striking off your bucket list.

You can send your photos directly to Pastor David, the office, or by tagging us on social media. We plan to share these photos later in the summer.

Sermon Preview from Pastor Tom
Romans 5: 1-8
A Redirected Hope

I was on the road yesterday and came across a detour sign. I then saw a couple of drivers ignore the detour and proceed down that road anyway. Trusting they knew what they were doing, I followed them -- and quickly found out that was a mistake. I should have trusted that sign instead of placing my hope in those other drivers.

If I’m being honest, I sometimes live my life in a similar way: placing my hope elsewhere instead of in the One who is Lord of my life. Paul’s letter to the Romans addresses that tendency, and this week’s Scripture passage from that letter encourages us all to redirect our attention - and our hope.

A Welcomed Return
Hosea 5:15 - 6:6

This week, we read a passage from the book of Hosea. In what develops as a pattern throughout the prophetic books of the Bible, God's people have once again turned their backs on God. In the midst of this reality, Hosea encourages Israel to return to their God, to seek God's presence, and make God's priorities their priorities. In a world that competes for our attention, our loyalties, and our hearts, the invitation to return to our God is a good message for us to hear as well. Even greater than that - though - is the promise that God always welcomes us back.

We will celebrate the Lord’s Supper during worship on Sunday. We practice an open Communion table, meaning all baptized Christians are welcome to share the Bread and Cup as we meet Jesus around the Table.

One table
“Why does your teacher
eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
—Matthew 9.11

There is one table.
All our divisions are a lie.
All our hierarchies are a delusion.
We are all different, and equal.
There is no greater or lesser,
no more or less worthy,
no superior or inferior,
no better or worse.
Not in God’s eyes.
There is no ladder, no pyramid.
Only a circle, where last is first
and first is last.

Our hard work
is to repent of our evil hierarchies,
to be done with comparing,
creating insiders and outsiders.
We do it by coming to the one table,
sitting with our companion sinners,
our beloved siblings, all.
They’re all here, friend, at the table.
Sit with them,
as God sits with you.
