Without a reason for life, without purpose, we perish.
We falter.
We lose our way.
We lose hope.
We begin to casually exist instead of breathing in the reverence of a fully alive life.
We need to re-cast vision for ourselves daily.
Open your mind and your heart to the vision that God has for you.
If there are dreams He gave you that you’ve lost somewhere along the way, trust that they will be returned to you.
God breathed life into you so that you could live it to the fullest.
Now, get out there and live, fully alive!

I can’t shake it. That tiny plastic cup with the peel-back lid and the tasteless little wafer sealed under crinkly cellophane. It’s supposed to represent the most sacred, most costly sacrifice in history - but instead, it feels like a single-serving symbol of everything that’s gone wrong.

It’s convenient. It’s clean. It’s sterile.
Just like so much of the church has become.

We’ve traded broken bread passed hand to hand for a pre-packaged ritual that requires no mess, no interaction, no vulnerability. No one has to look anyone in the eye. No one has to serve or be served. You just peel, sip, and move on.

That cup… it bothers me.

It’s not that using them is wrong. I’m not saying your church is bad because you use them. I’ve taken communion from them too. But every time I hold one, I feel the sting of what we’ve lost. It’s not the cup - it’s the condition of the western church that the cup reflects.

A Christianity that’s become more about comfort than the cross.
More about ease than endurance.

The early church gathered in homes and maybe even catacombs. Most of Jesus disciples were martyred and the early church knew worship might cost them everything. They tore bread with trembling hands and remembered a Savior who bled. And now? Now we pass out sterile cups in air-conditioned rooms and sing songs about doing things we probably won’t actually do. Like surrender our lives and our comfort to do His will.

Jesus doesn’t come in a plastic wrapper.

He didn’t invite us into convenience - He invited us into death, into life, into actually sacrificing something.

So no, I’m not shaming churches that use the cups. That’s not the point.

I’m just saying maybe - just maybe - the plastic is a metaphor or a mirror.

Maybe we’ve settled for a version of Christianity that’s shrink-wrapped, safe, and single-use.

Maybe we’ve learned to worship comfort and call it Christ.

Maybe the body of Jesus shouldn’t be so easy to consume.

Maybe we need to rip open more than the plastic.

Maybe it’s time to rip open our hearts.

Because the body of Christ wasn’t made to be convenient.

It was made to be broken.

Selah.

Faith is not your destination, or a place.
It's not the finish line of all things!
It is actually the starting line!
You don't have to spend years trying to attain it, because it isn't a prize!
Faith is like the perfect pair of running shoes…
It is going to get you to the finish line quicker than running barefoot!
It's what will carry you to your destination!
It's the supernatural force that gives you the help and endurance you need to go through life at a strong, steady pace.
Faith is a substance!
It's evidence!
It's something you cannot see.
It's a spiritual force!
Common sense says you should accept only things that you CAN see. But to God, when it comes to faith, it's what you CANNOT see that is the REAL evidence! (Heb 11:1)
Why did God put faith in the realm of the unseen?
Because if YOU can't see it, neither can the ENEMY!
So, exercise your faith, let it help you to go through life at a strong and steady pace, fix your eyes on the One who believes in and loves you wildly, passionately, jealously!
You’re gonna make it!
You’re gonna climb the mountain to take in the glorious sunset, just on the other side!
You’re gonna get through the long, dry season, to be nourished and saturated in His life giving water!
Your new season will be far better than any you have ever experienced, imagined, or dreamt!
You’re gonna come out of the fire as Rack, Shack & Benny did, not even smelling like smoke!
You’re gonna be victorious!
You’re gonna win the race!
You’re gonna make it!
Lace your shoes up and run!
If you need a running partner, I’ll lace my shoes up and run alongside you!
Be very blessed!

Matthew 6:19-21 TPT
19 “Don’t keep hoarding for yourselves earthly treasures that can be stolen by thieves. Material wealth eventually rusts, decays, and loses its value.
20 Instead, stockpile heavenly treasures for yourselves that cannot be stolen and will never rust, decay, or lose their value. 21 For your heart will always pursue what you esteem as your treasure.”

About halfway through Psalm 78 is a verse that always makes me nod in agreement. Not because I like the verse but because, like it or not, it’s painfully true.

The verse is talking about the rebellions of Israel in the wilderness. It reads, “When [God] killed them, then they sought him” (78:34).

How true to humanity is that?

When a man’s stomach is stuffed, he does not think of hunger.
When a woman is well-clothed, she does not think of freezing.
When the house is secure, the inhabitants do not think of danger.
When we are healthy, we give little thought to being sick.

So, too, when all is going well with us, when life is at least OK, we are lulled into thinking that maybe, perhaps, we are getting along just fine on our own. I mean, we probably won’t say that aloud, or even whisper it, but the voice is there. Subdued. Suggestive. Sinister.

It’s easy, when life is good, to forget that all goodness comes from God.

“When God killed them, then they sought him.” Thorns in the flesh are a great encouragement to get down on our knees. Trials that we never wanted, but that came our way, awaken us from slumber to seek the God who has never left our side, but whom we so foolishly forgot was there.

“Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.” So we pray and so the Lord Jesus hears. He is mindful that we are but weak and dumb sheep, easily swayed, easily distracted, frequently lost, so he shepherds us, sometimes, into dark valleys where we remember to listen for his voice and follow him, come what may.

And come what may, we are safe with him.
