Adult Sunday School will take a break until the fall. However, in class last week a question was raised about which gods the Babylonians worship in the 6th C BCE during the Jewish exile there. So here’s the answer: Marduk (supreme god), Nabu (god of wisdom and writing), Ishtar (goddess of love, beauty, war), Shamash (god of justice and divine justice). There were also numerous lesser gods. So as the Jews in Babylon worshipped and believed in one God, the culture and people around them believed in numerous gods.

As our nation commemorated Memorial Day, we remember members of our church who served or are currently serving our country in the armed forces. A plaque in the narthex of our church lists the names of those lost in service to our country during World War II. A display in the Coffee House is dedicated to their memory as well as to all members who have served in the United States Military.

A big thank you to all who attended the PW Tea this past Sunday. I received so many nice comments about it directly, but I must say it is a group effort. I must give a BIG thank you to all the behind-the-scenes people who helped set up and decorate for the event, made all the delicious food, prepared the prizes, and cleaned up afterwards. It was wonderful to see all the ladies enjoy themselves with their friends in our beautiful Fellowship Hall. The entertainment this year was exceptional with a program from Sharon High School’s Tiger Kittens and Men of Note show choir, under the direction of Mr. Frank McCauley. They were fantastic. I feel truly blessed to be a part of this group and a member of our loving congregation. Thank you one and all. —Linda Clark
