5 Things Friday @ 1st
Worship @ 1st will be in Fellowship Hall at 10:00 AM on September 6. Rev. Dr. Bill Crooks will be preaching.
During the hot and humid summer months we move worship to our Fellowship Hall with a/c. Summer worship also moves to 10AM, is more casual and includes some digital projection. We continue to provide online worship. Feel free to sit around a table or in a row with chairs. Help yourself to something to drink. Extend a “good morning” to those around you.
During the summer the church is open 8AM-5PM, Monday-Friday, 9AM-12noon on Saturday and Sunday. The church will be closed on Monday, September 7th, for Labor Day.
Our final day of worship in Fellowship Hall will be September 27. On that Sunday everyone is encouraged to wear “beach clothes”; shorts, beach shirts, hats, and sandals/flipflops. And you are welcome to bring a beach chair to sit in during worship. We will also have a couple of “beach punches” and tropical fruit to drink and eat.
We will return to the sanctuary for worship on October 4th, World Communion Sunday. Worship will also return to 11:00AM with the choir, organ, and piano. We will celebrate communion with Christians from around the world.

Please plan on attending the Mission Sunday worship service on September 13th to learn about mission at 1st Church. The service will be followed by a time of fellowship and a light meal. The Mission Committee will provide sloppy joes and chips. You are invited to bring a side dish if you are able.
The new church website is up and running. The address remains the same: www.1stpcs.org. We still have some more information and pictures to add. Go online and check it out!
The mailing for the Sharon Schools Pantry has gone out. Members and friends of 1st Church are once again invited to lead the giving to this important program to help feed needy Sharon kids. Our goal is to raise $8,000. So far we have raised $5,485. Please return your pledge card and/or check by Mission Sunday, September 13th. All checks are to be made out to “1st Presbyterian Church of Sharon” with “Pantry” in the memo line. Contact Dr. Hink with any questions.
Dr. Hink will be “on vacation” September 3-6 as he and Laura move to their new home on Buhl Blvd. in Sharon. Dr. Crooks will be preaching and leading worship on September 6.
Bonus items
The Presbytery of Shenango will meet at 1st Church on Tuesday, September 22nd 6:30PM. The meeting begins with a worship service that will include the installation of Pastor Donna Heard as the Presbytery Moderator. Donna and her husband Lorenzo are members of 1st Church, and Donna currently serves as an Elder on the 1st Church Session. Everyone is welcome to the Presbytery Meeting to celebrate Donna's installation.
A letter has gone out to 1st Church members and friends regarding raising mission money for a teaching position at Evangelical Theological Seminary in Cairo, Egypt. In March 2025 the Presbyterian Church USA called all their foreign missionaries home and stopped funding foreign mission positions. This campaign seeks to raise money to help fund one of the positions lost at the largest Protestant seminary in the Middle East. Contact Dr. Hink with any questions about this mission funding campaign.
