Sunday is Trinity Sunday. It is the first Sunday after Pentecost and celebrates the Christian doctrine of the Trinity, the three Persons of God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Our scriptures include Genesis 1:1-2:4a and 2 Corinthians 13:11-13 with The Message - Still Here - reflecting on Matthew 28:16-20.

The Divine is present in humanity and all of creation in infinite ways - from the first breath of God at the first spark of creation, through the life, ministry, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus, and in the continuing aspirations of the Holy Spirit. On Trinity Sunday, we reflect on the many ways the Divine is with us and how we are called and led and nurtured to care for humanity and all of creation to the end of the age. The message will attempt to tie in the scripture from Genesis to Matthew 28.

You are invited to join us as celebrate the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit on this last Sunday in May.

Pentecost Sunday is the day we celebrate the birthday of the Church. We are sent out encouraged and empowered to follow the unbounded Spirit wherever God may lead. Pentecost is both a celebration and an invitation. We celebrate and remember God’s mighty and continuing act of sending the Holy Spirit to dwell among us, to guide. So, on this Pentecost Sunday, find ways to emphasize the abundance of God, the unbounded Spirit being poured out among us. Fill the space with red, gold, orange, and yellow. Sing your hearts out. Share the goodness of God’s work among you. Dream God’s dream of abundant life together. Pray for the flourishing us and nurture us on the journey of faith. We also receive and remember the invitation to follow the Spirit, to cooperate with God’s work in the world. Just as God pours out abundantly, God invites us continually. The unbounded Spirit is here among us, always working for the flourishing of God’s creation and always inviting us to participate. Will we join in? (From UM worship resources)

Tomorrow is recognized as Ascension Sunday and next Sunday will be Pentecost Sunday, the birthday of the Church.

Our scripture readings for this week include Acts 1:6-14; Psalm 68:1-10; and 1 Peter 4:12-14; 5:6-11. John 17:1-11 is the scripture for The Message -Living in a Loud World.

John 17:1-11 is often referred to as, High Priestly Prayer, just before his arrest asking the Father to glorify him through the cross so that he might glorify God. Jesus defines eternal life not just as heaven, but as knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ. Jesus states that he has glorified the Father on earth by finishing the work he was given. He prays for his followers, who are still in the world, asking for their protection and unity (“that they may be one as we are one”).

Won't you join us as we worship and praise God? We will also be recognizing our High School and College Graduates especially Laney Claire Hays as she graduates from Mooreville High School next Saturday, May 22nd.

Join us tomorrow for the Sixth Sunday of Easter with The Message -
The Presence You Can’t See - from John 14:15-21. Other scriptures for the week include Acts 17:22-31; Psalm 66:8-20; and 1 Peter 3:13-22.

Love and suffering seem to be the two great paths to God. Suffering gets our attention and is a great vehicle of transformation, while love shows us the nature of God. The psalmist speaks of being tested and tried as silver is tried. God put other nations over Israel to lead the Israelites through fire and water into a spacious place of blessing. The epistle speaks of the suffering that will come from following Christ, and then urges the people to do good works anyway. For it is better to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. In the Gospel reading, Jesus promises the disciples that he will not leave them comfortless, but will send them the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, to teach them the truth about God and holy love. The reading from Acts does not fit this theme, but recounts the story of Paul in the Areopagus, proclaiming the God of Jesus Christ as the one the Athenians worshiped as an unknown god. Acts and the epistle also share the theme of searching and groping for God and ultimate truth. (Ministry Matters)

We are quickly approaching the end of the Easter Season with this Sunday being the Fifth Sunday of Easter. Our Scripture readings this are Acts 7:55-60; Psalm 31:1-5, 15-16; and 1 Peter 2:2-10 with The Message - When You Don’t Have It Figured Out - coming from John 14:1-14.

God’s steadfast faithfulness makes our faithfulness possible. We need not be the strong ones, for God’s strength is enough: to give Stephen courage to face martyrdom; to give the psalmist faith to proclaim God’s refuge, even when surrounded by enemies; and to give Peter faith to prophesy that we are being built into the house of God. Jesus knows that the troubles of this world are real; yet he promises that we can trust God to lead us on the way both in this earthly life and in the life to come. God’s steadfast faithfulness will get us through, even when our faith waivers. (from Ministry Matters)

As this week comes to an end, the Fourth Sunday of Easter (April 26th) approaches. This week's Scripture includes Acts 2:42-47; Psalm 23; and 1 Peter 2:19-25. The Message - Who Are You Following? - will focus on John 10:1-10.

The shepherd that is revered by the psalmist is celebrated by John as both shepherd and gate for the sheep. We rejoice that Jesus, our shepherd, calls us each by name and is the one who came that we may have abundant life. Acts describes abundant life as a gifts of Christian fellowship, breaking bread together, prayer, attention to the apostle’s teachings, and sharing all things in common. How far we have moved from that early paradigm of selfless giving! But when we return to our shepherd and guardian after going astray, the epistle says we are healed and welcomed home. (From Ministry Matters)

Won't you come and celebrate our Risen Savior with us???

Easter changes everything. The resurrection of Jesus sets everything on its head. One must get used to Easter, adjust to it, to the very idea of it, much less the consequences of it. A common Easter theme is bewilderment. If you read the stories of Jesus’ resurrection in the Gospels, that’s what you’ll find - bewilderment. It’s clear from the Gospels that the disciples at first really didn’t know what to make of the news that the tomb was empty. From May Magadelene and the other women telling the disciples what they had found at the tomb to the two men on their way to Emmaus, they don’t really know what to make of it. An empty tomb? Risen from the dead? What on earth can it mean?

So, what does it mean for us? What it means is that if we are wondering just how Easter applies to us, wondering what difference it makes, then the best thing to do would be to read your Bible and study His Word. This is something that we can do today, every day, and Sunday after Sunday. Our hearts can burn with Christ’s truth too. We can recognize Him too. (Scripture Reflection for April 19, 2026 by Father Joshua J. Whitfield)

Join us tomorrow for the Third Sunday of Easter for a time of worship, praising God, and continuing to celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord. Rev. George Buell will be our guest pastor with The Message - Unwrapped - from John 11:38-44.

The Season of Lent ended last Wednesday as we began the end of Holy Week with Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. We had excellent services and great special music. Easter Sunday was especially meaningful. We are blessed to have so many talented people who contribute regularly to our services and special programs.

We are still in the Easter Season. Consider joining us on the Second Sunday of Easter for worship. Scriptures for the week include Acts 2:14a, 22-32 and 1 Peter 1:3-9. John 20:19-31 is the focus for The Message - Don’t Go Back To Normal.

The Second Sunday of Easter holds a special place in our hearts as it continues the joyful celebration of Christ’s resurrection. It is a day that reminds us of the new life offered through Jesus, urging us to awaken within our souls the hope and light that Easter brings. On this day, the faithful are invited to reflect on the victory of life over death and to renew their commitment to live in the love and mercy of our Lord.

Christ has Risen!
Christ has Risen, indeed!
