The self-guide

d journey through Primitive Skills, Nature Awareness, Visual art, or spiritual enlightenment can be a lonely and confusing place. Mentoring can be as simple as a one on one meeting, or very small group activity where Refuge of the Disciples will provide light instruction, share resources and guidance, troubleshoot, answer questions, and pray over people and situations. Donations are welcome but sometimes refused and are not necessary. They are only suggested for regular mentees who may feel some obligation. Classes in Primitive Skills Currently we are developing a Primitive Skills curriculum that will require students to take one weekend a month for one year for intensive training and it will also involve light homework. Additional resources will be provided for students to take these subjects to whatever degree they choose. If a Subject not covered, the instructor will happily recommend where proper training can be received. Christian discipleship will also be a part of this curriculum. If you are not a person of faith we may still be willing to instruct you if you are respectful and understanding of the angle at which this is being taught. We will will do the same to respect your faith, but expect conversation. Costs will be kept minimal and cover resources and some basic supplies. The instruction costs will be free to those that qualify and are accepted for the intensive. Many of the weekend campout classes will be held at the currently underdevelopment Camp Tukótink(Lenape Indian word for Timbered Hills) near Binghampton, NY. Other classes will be held in various locations in the NJ/PA area. The first Intensive is planned to be launched in Spring 2020. Contact...

Reconstructing a 1st century Jewish understanding of Hell One thing I have always found puzzling however is that Judaism does not really teach about much about the concept of hell as we know it. In several verses that talk about death, it is referenced as Sheol, better translated simply, the grave. In other verses such as Gen. 3:19; Ps. 146:4; Ecc....

Papal Infallibility: A Misunderstood Concept Papal infallibility is often misunderstood, especially among Protestants who may assume the pope is considered infallible at all times. In reality, the doctrine of papal infallibility was not formally defined until 1870 at the First Vatican Council. Even then, strict conditions must be met for a statement to be considered infallible. It must be an official declaration made by the Pope while speaking ex cathedra (from the chair of Peter), concerning faith or morals, and reaffirming the consistent teaching of the Church....

John 6:25–70 is often the key scripture cited by Roman Catholic and Orthodox Christians to support the belief that the Eucharist is the literal body and blood of Jesus. Below are selected passages from the MEV translation: Verses 32–33: Then Jesus said, “Truly, truly I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven....

I might have a little more disagreement on this issue than others, but in the end I don't see it as major. However, Roman Catholics and the Orthodox view the most common Protestant stance on Mary as heretical Traditional churches are quick to accuse Protestants of disrespect toward Mary or believe that we disregard her as unimportant. While it's true that some Protestants may overreact to perceived "Mary worship," this does not mean we don't hold her in high regard....

Praying to the Saints There is an accusation that Catholics and the Orthodox pray to saints. Catholics and Orthodox churches argue they do not, but merely ask those who have passed to intercede with additional prayer to God on their behalf. From their perspective, it is not any different from asking a friend or a relative to pray for you. Protestants will often object that the saints are dead and therefore cannot hear us....

The modern house church movement has gained momentum over the past several decades, particularly in response to perceived shortcomings in institutional Christianity. Pioneers such as Wolfgang Simson (Houses That Change the World), Neil Cole (Organic Church), and more recently Francis Chan have helped draw attention to this model of doing church that seeks to return to what many believe was the New Testament pattern....

For many Messianic believers, Christmas raises uncomfortable questions. Isn’t it rooted in paganism? Did the early Church borrow solstice festivals and idol customs? Should Torah-honoring followers of Yeshua have anything to do with it or other non-jewish Holidays? Sometimes there are legitimate concerns, but sometimes speculative conspiracy theorists exaggerate facts and twist them to present something that isn't exactly historically accurate....

While I would not claim Gentiles are required to follow all the law of Moses, I would say we are invited to (Romans 2:13–15, 25–27). Obviously, we cannot follow the ceremonial laws regarding the temple because there is no temple. Likewise, laws pertaining to the nation of Israel can’t be enforced because we are not citizens of a theocracy—at least not until a possible millennial reign of Christ....
