Almighty God, heavenly Father, You are the Lord of hosts and the giver of every good and perfect gift. On this Memorial Day we give thanks for those who have served in the armed forces of our nation, especially for those who laid down their lives in the cause of liberty and peace. We remember their courage, sacrifice, and devotion to duty, and we ask that their service never be forgotten.
Grant comfort to all who mourn the loss of loved ones—widows and widowers, children and parents, comrades and friends. Uphold them with the sure promise of the resurrection through Jesus Christ, who conquered death and opened the kingdom of heaven to all believers.
Preserve our nation in justice, honor, and peace. Give wisdom to those who govern, integrity to those who serve, and courage to those who protect the weak and defend the innocent. Keep us mindful that true freedom is found not merely in earthly liberty, but in the forgiveness of sins and eternal life won for us by Your Son; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.🙏🏽
