Shaker Heights seeks donations for Hunger Network
NewsFlash
In response to uncertainties surrounding the federal SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) program, the City of Shaker Heights is asking those who live and work in Shaker to donate funds to Hunger Network of Greater Cleveland at bit.ly/hnfeedshakerheights.
Donations made by November 30 will be matched by the City, dollar for dollar, up to $10,000.
“I urge Shaker residents, who are able, to make a donation to Hunger Network to help our neighbors during this difficult time,” said Mayor David E. Weiss. “In true Shaker spirit, many residents have asked what they can do to assist those who rely on federal food benefits; this effort can make a real difference.”
Donations made at bit.ly/hnfeedshakerheights will help Shaker Heights Community Hunger Center meet the increased demand during the suspension of federal food benefits. In the month ahead, their distributions are scheduled for November 17, 19, 24 and 26. From January through September of this year, Shaker Heights Community Hunger Center has served an average of 84 households per month. In October alone, this site served 133 households.
Shaker Heights Community Hunger Center is affiliated with Hunger Network and distributes food at Shaker Heights Community Church, 20120 Lomond Blvd, Shaker Heights.
