Shade Valley United Methodist Parish Our parish consists of three churches in the Shade Valley community. Luke's UMC in Shade Gap, PA, at 11:00 a.m. Our mission is "To praise God and to please God!

Join us for Sunday morning worship at Nossville UMC in Blairs Mills, PA, at 8:45; Richvale UMC in Richvale, PA, at 9:45; or at St. To know Christ and to make Christ known! To promote the love of neighbors and the worship of Jesus Christ!"

The Richvale Administrative Council Meeting has been rescheduled for Sunday, 3/1 at 6 p.m.

Our Bible Study on "The Final Days: A Lenten Journey through the Gospels" will begin on Monday, 3/2 at 9 a.m. at St. Luke’s.

During Lent, let us…

Fast from judging others;
feast on the Christ within them.
Fast from emphasis on difference;
feast on the unity of life.
Fast from apparent darkness;
feast on the reality of light.
Fast from thoughts of illness;
feast on the healing power of God.

Fast from words that pollute;
feast on phrases that purify.
Fast from discontent;
feast on gratitude.
Fast from anger;
feast on patience.
Fast from pessimism;
feast on optimism.

Fast from complaining;
feast on appreciation.
Fast from worry;
feast on trust in God’s care.
Fast from unrelenting pressure;
feast on unceasing prayer.
Fast from facts that depress;
feast on verities that uplift.

Fast from lethargy;
feast on enthusiasm.
Fast from thoughts that weaken;
feast on promises that inspire.
Fast from shadows of sorrow;
feast on the sunlight of serenity.
Fast from problems that overwhelm;
feast on prayer that undergirds.

Fast from bitterness;
feast on forgiveness.
Fast from self-concern;
feast on compassion for others.
Fast from personal anxiety;
feast on eternal truth.

Shade Valley Parish Women of Faith are hosting a "Shop With Purpose Boutique" on Monday, February 16th at St. Luke's UMC, 11691 Circle St, Shade Gap. The sale will be held in the church's Social Hall from 9-11 am and 2-4 pm. Stop in and shop for handmade jewelry, scarves, candles and more. All proceeds benefit Women at Risk International.
