A Different Kind of Church
Many people today feel caught between two realities.
Some love Jesus but feel disconnected in large, program-driven environments where it can be easy to attend without truly being known. Others have tried church before and walked away feeling that something important was missing—authenticity, depth, or a real encounter with God. And many people are simply searching, wondering if faith might actually be real.
Chapel Church exists for all of them.
Our name comes from the meaning of the word chapel—a house with an altar. Long before church buildings and large gatherings became common, believers met in homes to pray, study the Scriptures, and share life together. We believe there is something powerful about returning to that simplicity.
So we gather in homes, around tables and living rooms and even in coffee shops. We gather with a deep commitment to three things:
The Word of God – We believe the Bible is meant to be understood, wrestled with, and lived. Our gatherings prioritize thoughtful study and honest conversation about Scripture.
Prayer – We believe God is present and active. Prayer is not a formality but a central part of our time together as we seek Him, bring our needs before Him, and listen for His guidance.
Community – Real spiritual growth happens in relationship. Our goal is to create communities where people are known, supported, challenged, and encouraged to follow Christ together.
Whether you have followed Jesus for many years, have been hurt or disappointed by church in the past, or are simply exploring faith for the first time, you are welcome here. Chapel gatherings are places where questions are allowed, conversations are real, and people can encounter God in a meaningful way.
If you are looking for more than simply attending a service—if you are searching for a place to grow, to belong, and to seek God seriously—we invite you to come visit a Chapel gathering.
After all, sometimes the most powerful things God does happen in a house with an altar.

THE SACRIFICE OF ISAAC
GEN 22:1-18

Notice some things about life's longest journey.
I. Its unavoidable - v. 1
"After these things." It must and it does come. And for many, it comes often.
God cares about your heart.
He tests the purity of your love.
He tests the consistency of your obedience.
Rom. 14:10-12, "For we must all stand before the judgment seat of God. For it is written: As I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow to Me, and every tongue will give praise to God. So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God."
2 Cor. 5:10, "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each may be repaid for what he has done in the body, whether good or bad."
Your testing will come. God is serious about your relationship with Him.
II. urgency of this journey: v. 2
"Take your son . . . and go . . . ."
2 Cor. 6:2, "Now is the acceptable time, look, now is the day of salvation."
Heb. 3:7-8, 15; 4:7, "Today if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts."
James 4:13-14, "Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will travel to such and such a city and spend a year there and do business and make a profit. You don't even know what tomorrow will bring - what your life will be! For you are a bit of smoke that appears for a little while, then vanishes.”
Say “YES” to God now!
III. The consistent provision of this journey: v. 2
"Moriah" means "provided by Jehovah."
IV. The purpose of this journey:
17 I will indeed bless you and make your offspring as numerous as the stars of the sky and the sand on the seashore. Your offspring will possess the city gates of their enemies. 18 And all the nations of the earth will be blessed by your offspring because you have obeyed my command.”

V. The competing priorities of the journey: v. 2
"your only son whom you love . . . offer him as a burnt offering."
This conflicting of priorities happens to us so easily.
Things that take His place could be:
Family: Mark. 1:20 (James & John)
Possessions: Mark 10:21 (Rich Young Ruler)
Position: (Job)
Church/fellowship: Matt. 17:8 (saw Jesus only)
Dreams/Ambitions
I must ask myself “Has anything taken God’s place in my heart?”

VI. The conquering grace of the journey: v. 11-14
After all that has happened all the life stuff, there is still a journey of faith we are on. Its unavoidable, its urgent, God will provide along the way, it has a direct purpose in our lives, there will be conflicts but in the end it will be a journey marked by grace. AMEN!!!

Lot Character Bible Study

Read: Genesis 11:27-31, 12:4-5, 13:1-14, 19, 2 Peter 2:7-8

Meaning of name: Covering, veil

Ancestry and family life: Lot was a Semite. When and where he lived: Mesopotamia. It is the land of modern day Syria, Iraq, and Turkey. The Chaldeans were a people group who eventually established the Babylonian Empire. They came from what is now Southern Iraq.

Genesis 13:2-7 – Now Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold. And he journeyed on from the Negeb as far as Bethel to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai, to the place where he had made an altar at the first. And there Abram called upon the name of the Lord. And Lot, who went with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents, so that the land could not support both of them dwelling together; for their possessions were so great that they could not dwell together, and there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram’s livestock and the herdsmen of Lot’s livestock. At that time the Canaanites and the Perizzites were dwelling in the land.

Lot was a successful self-employed entrepeneur, trader, and business owner.

Place in history:
Lot was the ancestor of two famous Biblical nations, Ammon and Moab.

Genesis 13:8-11 – Then Abram said to Lot, “Let there be no strife between you and me, and between your herdsmen and my herdsmen, for we are kinsmen. Is not the whole land before you? Separate yourself from me. If you take the left hand, then I will go to the right, or if you take the right hand, then I will go to the left.” And Lot lifted up his eyes and saw that the Jordan Valley was well watered everywhere like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, in the direction of Zoar. (This was before the Lord destroyed S***m and Gomorrah.) So Lot chose for himself all the Jordan Valley, and Lot journeyed east. Thus they separated from each other.

There are four life-saving lessons we can learn from Lot about the reality of sin and its consequences.

1. Beware of the progression of sin in your life.
Who do you really want to be? Where do you want to belong? If it’s with the world, go there 100 percent. If it’s with God, go with him 100 percent.

2. The coming judgment is real.
The greatest hypocrisy of all time is saying you believe in heaven and hell and not doing everything you can to keep those you care about from going there.

3. You cannot drift into godliness.
You’ll never drift into spiritual maturity. It takes daily, focused effort. To become what no one else is becoming, you have to do what no one is doing.

4. Become an Abraham to the Lots in your life.
Jesus prayed for you, and he came after you. Now, it’s your turn to do this for others.

God’s Great Grace –Ultimately this is not a story about Lot’s sin and the results of it. It is a story of God’s grace toward sinners. And that is the same story we see repeated throughout the Bible and in our own lives today.
