What have you been chasing this summer—and did it actually deliver?

Maybe it was a vacation. A goal you finally reached. Something you had been saving up to buy. Most of us are chasing something we think will finally make us feel satisfied, secure, or settled.

But what happens when we finally get it—and it still isn’t enough?

Thousands of years ago, Solomon chased pleasure, success, wealth, and wisdom. He had more than most of us could ever imagine, but none of it gave him what he was looking for. In the end, he called it “chasing after the wind.”

Beginning September 13, we’re spending four weeks in the book of Ecclesiastes. It’s honest about the things we chase, the questions we carry, and where a life that truly matters can be found.

If you’ve ever wondered, “Is this really all there is?”—this series is for you.

Join us starting September 13th. Bring a friend who's still chasing something.

Every crease tells a story. Every crumple has purpose. Your struggles aren't disqualifying—they're part of God's beautiful design for your life. Through Christ, you're made new. His promises never fail, and His grace covers it all.

Ever caught yourself 'louder cleaning' because someone else isn't helping? Martha did the same thing—her service turned into scorekeeping when she stopped focusing on Jesus and started focusing on what others weren't doing. When we lose sight of Him, we lose sight of our true purpose. Keep your eyes on Jesus, and everything else will follow.

This week, pay attention to your attention. At some point, you will likely have a Martha moment. You will find yourself thinking, why am I the only one doing the right thing here? Why is no one else helping? When that voice starts, instead of asking Jesus to fix the people around you, stop and ask Him this: "Jesus, what are you trying to do in me right now?"

Choose one time each day this week to intentionally set aside distractions and give Jesus your undivided attention. It does not have to be long. But it does have to be intentional.

Ask yourself these questions as you go through your week:

- What currently has my attention, and is it pulling me toward Jesus or away from Him?

- Is my service to others coming from a place of genuine love, or has it started to become scorekeeping?

- When I feel frustrated with the people around me, am I asking what is wrong with them, or am I asking what is happening within me?

- Am I giving Jesus my activity, my attention, or both?

You can serve well and still lose sight of Jesus. Do not let the good things in your life crowd out the most important thing. Choose the better thing.

🌟 Hygiene Bag Project 🌟
This Sunday, we shared an incredible opportunity to SERVE students in our community. SCC is providing girls in 5th-12th grade with hygiene bags.

Each bag is filled with essential items that many students often need but can’t always afford. Even more, each bag includes a handwritten note of encouragement to remind these girls that they are seen, valued, and loved. 💜

This project is more than giving a bag—it’s living out one of our Core 4: SERVE. It’s a simple way to be the hands and feet of Jesus in a very practical way.

👉 Want to be part of the next round of bags? You can purchase the items needed directly at this Amazon link below, or join us Tuesday, August 25 @ 10:00am as we prepare the bags and pray for these students!

Together, we’re making a difference—one bag, one note, one girl at a time - all in the name of Jesus!

You can be busy for Jesus and still miss being with Jesus.

That's the tension at the center of yesterday's message. Martha welcomed Jesus into her home and served him well. Nothing about that was wrong. But somewhere between the kitchen and the front room, her serving turned into scorekeeping: quiet cleaning became louder cleaning, and every slammed cabinet was really a question aimed at her sister, "why aren't you helping me?"

Meanwhile Mary just sat at Jesus' feet and listened. Same house, same Jesus, two completely different postures.

This week's message is about the difference between giving Jesus your activity and giving him your attention, and why those are not the same thing.
